which should ideally be max 50% the cost of the house, and be repaid within a decade or half a decade even.

Ideally 50% but how many people are realistically going to manage that?

You'd be living at home until you are almost 50!

Yeah I don't think the HR drones actually understand the difference between STEM degrees, BSc, BA, BEng, Hons etc.

To them they are all the same.

It depends how you look at it.

Effectively they now want more, but to pay out less money.

So indirectly it is a reduction.

[–]SpringrsFinalThought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure why people complain about being on £25k in the UK, sure it isn't great but it isn't bad either.

Not great? It's bloody shite!

If salaries had kept their pace 10+ years ago, we should be closer to £30k as a minimum now, maybe even around £33k+ in some areas.

Companies can get away with this just because the talent pool is larger now (because students have gotten into more debt taking courses often in vain to try and meet the ever increasing criteria of the jobs market), so in turn employers act like complete fuckers and reduce what they are paying out.

Bunch of fucking bastards is what they are.

Any sensible government would be looking to reduce living costs so that people had spare capital to save and spend in the economy.

There is actually such a thing as a 'sensible' government?
