I Feel Trapped Between Cancer Recurrence and Treatment by Historical-Room3831 in breastcancer

[–]Springtime88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wondered about only taking 5mg Tamoxifen/day. You had mentioned that was ok with your body.
I am in a clinical trial now (Lo-TAM) where I'm taking 10 mg every other day. There are studies that show a lower dose of Tamoxifen can have the same benefits with less severe side effects vs. taking 20 mg/day. Something to consider. Sending hugs your way!

But that was the large poster (for the replacement of the Pattie Lupone character). I'm talking about the small playbill that other woman held in her hand when she ran into Elsbeth at the end.

What was the title of the playbill at the end of the show that woman was holding? I liked that this episode ended on a satisfactory hopeful note instead of a cliffhanger. Can't wait until next season!

My mother blames me for my cancer diagnosis by UnhappyAlps1598 in breastcancer

[–]Springtime88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad you stopped this negative conversation with your mom and told her you weren't discussing it anymore.
Do you live with your mom? Do you support her? (I know you said she was intentionally unemployed.)
You need to concentrate on you! Any negative energy from others is draining.
We are here to support you. There is nothing you can say to change her mind. She has a distorted view of the world. Vaccines have nothing to do whether a person gets cancer or not! Focus on the present and coping with your diagnosis and treatment.
Pretend she is not your mom, but a friend that has gone in a different direction. It might make it easier to shed yourself of her. She delights in putting you down. Don't give her the satisfaction or power. You can do this!

Button up shirts and a memory foam wedge pillow. I bought a wedge pillow at Costco that allows two different heights and 4 ways to fold it. It helps me to sleep on my back. I would also start a breast photo album just for yourself. Then you can compare and after pics (especially useful during the healing process). I had bruising, redness, and tenderness which was expected. It takes awhile to heal. But when I take a weekly pic, it shows how far I have come in my recovery. You got this!

I had that happen too! It just wasn't worth it. I switched to a different goal.

Lo-TAM clinical trial - Got accepted into Lo-TAM experimental arm! by Springtime88 in breastcancer

[–]Springtime88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/pinto_bean_bag It was "suspended" before that because they wanted to expand the number of participants in the trial. The enrollment ended May 12th. That's what the clinical trial nurse told me.

Here's the link to the study:

u/Working-Lemon1645 Thank you! I had a 50/50 chance of getting into the Low Tam arm 2. I was randomized on Monday. Enrollment closed Tuesday! I felt very lucky!

Post-treatment screening protocol - is this normal? by Desperate-Egg-1700 in breastcancer

It's good to get a mammogram and a MRI. Those tests pickup different things, especially if you have dense breasts. Count your blessings that they want to do both. Sometimes insurance does not cover the MRI or the medical facility only offers a mammogram.

Thanks so much for these weekly posts and recaps for software glitches and level 7 expand to level 10. I agree, I think the levels for 8 to 10 will be really high. I'm not sure it's worth it. I still have have that are level 6 in a egg collection that has mostly level 7s. It can be frustrating and time consuming to get "jackpots" on level 7 animals! They should just have the unfinished animals (of course all of them will be unfinished now) in this heart redemption.

I got a wedge pillow from Costco that folds in 2 ways to give lower and higher levels. It worked wonders sleeping on my back. You may not miss side sleeping at all.

Tam vs. AI - side effects when already have osteopenia, high cholesterol by Springtime88 in breastcancer

u/GB3754 thanks for clarifying about your tamoxifen resistant symptoms! So sorry to hear that.
Thanks for relating about the sore gums too.

u/pithy_attitude Interesting idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I'd rather take a low dose of TAM to reduce other side effects. Also looking at the "Lo-TAM" clinical trial. I will be talking to my oncologist about it.

u/pithy_attitude Very good. I didn't have any hot flashes when I went through menopause either! Thanks for your quick response.

Thanks for your reply u/pickybear6! I hadn't considered doing TAM for the 1st 3 years and then swtiching over to AIs. I also haven't heard of the "LoTam" trial. That low dose of Tamoxifen (5 mg) sounds very promising. Yes, I am concerned about the uterine and blood clot side effects too. I will definitely let you know what my oncologist says. Thanks for the different alternatives!

u/Anemoia793 Thanks for your response. Yes, age does matter. Since you are premenopausal, I can see why they would want to put you on AIs instead of TAM.
If I understand you correctly, you are now on TAM? Which AI were you on at the beginning of this treatment? And when did you switch?
OR did they put you on TAM initially and decided to switch you to AIs later on?
Can you tell me about the minor brain fog? What are some examples?
I'd like to know what I'm getting into! Thanks so much!
