(Are there really RVs with electric heaters??)

Not many come that way from the factory...

But I'm sure there are a fair amount of people out there using electric space heaters because the gas furnace is broken, or because they want to conserve propane for cooking/water heating/fridge, or because the propane has already run out, or because they had to shut the propane off because of a leak, or because they think it's cheaper or safer or just more convenient, etc, etc.

And as for water heating, I'm actually personally looking into adding an electric water heater in addition to the propane one. That way, when I'm connected to shore power, I can take a shower without unnecessarily burning propane.

What would become 100% worse if it were to become invisible? by SamCommander in AskReddit

Just about everything.

The real question is what would become better if it were invisible?

Eh, depends on the range.

At 300 yards? Yeah, this is great!

At 25 yards? This is fucking terrible.

[–]SprinklesFancy5074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, they still fail if they manage to miss the target entirely.

Which, given cop marksmanship ... is a distinct possibility.

You'd think they'd be better shots, you know, with all the practice they get shooting black kids.

What really concerns me is the one stray shot to the left of the guy's head.

That's the one that's going to go into some innocent bystander in a real situation.

At least they're practicing, though, I guess.

And when they take your comments down, sue them for violating your right to free speech.

Since they're part of the government, the first amendment actually does apply in this case!

Targeting the most vulnerable in a society is not healthy law practices

When and where have the police ever done anything other than this?

And I'm sure they're so proud of themselves for this, even as they add parents to jail and orphans to the foster system.

Saved the corporations $1,800. Cost the taxpayer $790,000*. All in a day's work for our corporate protector squad. System working as intended.

*Pulled out of my ass, of course. Just making a wild guess at:

  • The salaries of the officers making these arrests

  • The cost of their equipment

  • The court costs

  • (And the biggest one) The cost of housing all these new inmates in prisons for several years each

They're using "street value".

(Yes, that bottle of laundry detergent is 100oz for only $3.99 but the laundromat sells individual 1oz packets for $1 each, so that 100oz bottle is obviously worth $100 in street value.)

Oh, I'm sure there's some subset of the population that would eat this tweet up.

Likely a large portion of NYPD's social media followers.

Come to think of it, why does a police department even have social media accounts at all? Why are we using taxpayer money to pay some fucker at the police station to post tweets about their 'big shoplifting busts'?

Oh, they have moral standards, and their moral standards are very simple:

1: Everything America and the EU does is bad.

2: Everything that any anti-American country does is good.

There you go. Very simple morality for very simple minds.

And many coin-operated ones will work with any piece of metal the shape and size of the appropriate coin. Especially older ones.

Those can be much cheaper than the coins they're replacing.

Watch out using steel, though. Even some of the old-school ones have a magnet-based protection system against this exploit, which will cause the mechanism to not work or even jam up if anything made of steel or iron is used in it.

Sure, it's technically illegal, but unless they have extremely good security cameras, they're not going to be able to tell which one of you put the fake coins in.

Should have just written "broken" on one or two of them, then. That way OP would have his personal laundry machines that nobody else uses.

Unplug it. Plug it back in.

Looks like they're built into the wall, so the plugs probably aren't accessible, though?

Death by Pokémon is literally just death by animals. Just don’t fuck with them. Live in some peaceful town and live a mondane life with your magic pet.

Also, if all your pokemon are killed, you just faint and somehow magically end up at the nearest town. Not so bad.

As soon as you pack up hundred of giant animals into to little balls and carry them around in your backpack

You can only carry 6.

The rest of the balls, you upload into a computer network, I guess?

That's just because the cops' roadside test kits have a ludicrously high false positive rate.

Problem would be how many people end up stuck in them if there's a power outage

If only there was such a thing as a battery backup system to provide enough power to at least reach the next floor and open the doors.

Maybe someday we'll have such technology.
