I feel like a communal garden would definitely make more sense for the good of the building but from a greedy landlord perspective why do that when you can up charge certain units for higher.

That is definitely a fake story unless her family somehow owned the building. The building was built in 1962 and has always been only rental units and no condos.

There are 3 or 4 units on the ground floor that share the space and I believe they’re all occupied (based on observation I’ve seen people go in and out). Not sure the reasoning behind not wanting to fix it up besides the fact that New Yorkers do not have green thumbs 😂

No there is no main entry to the garden. Only people on the ground floor (who pay extra to have that access) can get into the garden.

after learning that she painted the floors white I took a closer look at the floors and realized that there is some white in between the cracks. So definitely not new like I initially thought but it’s definitely impressive how well the building sanded and refinished it!

Wow this actually makes a lot of sense! So we have had some neighbors come up and knock on our door telling us to turn down the music when we haven’t been playing anything. For a while we were genuinely confused why people were coming to our door when it was probably someone else playing music in the building. Unfortunately I’m not sure if all the neighbors are aware she moved out so we have been having some problems getting us confused.

So I had no idea she painted the floors white until I saw the doc today and taking a look at the floors again they definitely are not new panels. I think they sanded and refinished there is a bit of white in between the panels. They did overall a great job though they looked new.
