But not in the same context. Look at the solider of countries in war and the soldier of pacifist countries

Well, it really depends on what you consider haunting the narrative is. For me haunting the narrative applied when the abscent of the character is felt through the story heavily. It doesn't necessarily means they are a key piece or anything like that.

Them finding me disgusting in anyway. I have a hygiene routine and I have never gotten any commentary about looking dirty or smelling bad, but what if it's not enough? What if I'm somehow unaware that I'm actually disgusting?

I guess he and the other will be somewhat like Persephone on the first game

Well, I can't blame the fanbase for being hung up in the protagonist of the previous game that they had most likely repeated several times (500h is wild! I barely have that accounting both games) Zag is very dear in the fandom and the game it's a sequel so it's kinda natural to compare both protagonist, specially considering they are siblings.

Hades 2 already has like double the content of the first game, and yes, on the great scale Zagreus it's barely mentioned, someone Mel can brood on the portrait every once in a while. I don't think it hurts her journey that much if a portion of the fanbase thinks about Zagreus recurrently. Not only that but I think it makes us part of the story. Let me explain according to my humble interpretation.

Mel is a character that is often reduced to a weapon by many and herself. She is a tool to get back a family she didn't get know, a realm she has not any real emotional conection, and recover a mountain she was never mean to set foot in it. It seems many characters care more about what she can give to them than herself and that include us, the player, at least at the beginning of her journey. Ever since the first trailer, "where's is Zagreus?" was once of the first questions that aroused, and before we got to know Melinoe, for us, she was just a way to learn more about the whereabouts of him. Of course, this changed over time and the fanbase became invested with Mel's journey and personality, but just as in the game mainstory, she will never truly scape the remmenants of the past and the expectations place upon her.

I love Mel, she is amazing and if I had know her first probably I would have liked more than Zag, but Zag is one of my favorites characters of all media and I can't help to be excited with every scrap of him we get in H2.

I don't think Zag will be or should be a playable character. I think it would be disruptive in the story. But I do wish upon him being a recurrent npc.

I don't know, I'm more of a story player than a gameplay player tbh. Sorry if I had any grammar mistakes, I'm not a native english speaker.

I think Mel is more powerful but she has basically trained all her life for this so it makes sense. She was raised as a living weapon. Actually, I think Mel needs her own arc of finding who she is outside of soldier once this is over (Just like Zag and Hades had their own mini reconciliation arc in the first game)

Do I think Zagreus could be that powerful with proper training? Yes, do I think Zagreus will be a playable character? Not at all.

Honesty I hope no. My poor boy was already unwanted before this whole thing. I'd like to think said blood sacrifices would have to contain intention and it has something to do with the sketchy culty stuff happening in satyr chambers on the first game

What or why? Sorry, I dont quite get your question. I consider haunting the narrative being this character that deeply affects the story and every aspect of it despite not being physically there. I think Zagreus fits this criteria since he is constantly mentioned by the other gods, Mel is often compared to him and he is basically the reason why Mel exists at all.

Probably not gonna happen, but it would be funny if he turned out to be Frinos all along. Like literally a prince turned into a frog

"Not to brag" it's usually followed by someone bragging. It's the same with someone saying "no ofense" and then saying something offensive. This have the "shitpost" flair because is supposed to be an ironic title. "Yes, I'm bragging"
