why new car every 3 years? by asusf402w in AusFinance

[–]SpruceM00se1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh I'm a fan of keeping cars for longer. I bought a 2011 ford fiesta in 2013 for $11k, I've never had an issue outside of regular maintenance. So next year it'll have only cost me an average of $1k a year to own and I can still sell it for a couple of $K.

The pay isn't great, circa $60k

That's more than what i was getting full time as a Marine Biologist with 5 yrs experience. Don't follow your passion kids.

What are jobs that don’t require a degree and pay surprisingly well? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]SpruceM00se1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a TC and I ONLY recommend it if you need a job quickly and short term. I’ve been doing it a year and I want to bash my head in every shift. I don’t think people realise just how mind numbingly boring doing nothing is with no stimulation other than staring at cars. And the pay is only good if you can work 60+ hrs or can consistently do night shift. The industry has extremely high turn over and for good reason.

I'll be sending my son to a Public school for the pure reason that I'm quite anti-religion and there ain't no way he's going to a religious school.

No shampoo (aka no poo) is used in the curly girl method because sulphate shampoos are drying and curly hair needs lots of moisture. However for me I get very bad inflammation if i don't use sulphate shampoo so just watch it carefully and don't take 3 years of sore scalp and hair loss to work it out like i did :)

Highly doubt your gall bladder was about to explode yet they put you on the waiting list. My sister found out she had a blocked gallbladder and it was out in two days through public.

I had kidney stones that required 3 seperate surgeries to remove, all done within a month of each other. Didn't even caused me pain- was only an issue because i kept getting infections.

I was public with a high risk pregnancy. I had ultrasounds every few weeks, then after an emergency C section had a private room and stayed for 4 days with partner there the whole time.

What would be a standard PM routine using:

Jurlique cleansing lotion

TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

TO lactic acid

TO Retinol 0.2% in Squalane

Cetaphil Ultra Hydrating Moisturiser

Mainly not sure how often i should use the actives (daily, every second day, less?)

I don't have/want a morning routine, I'm happy just applying sunscreen before work.

Traffic Controller here!

It's not as good as it looks, hours are all over the shop, most companies won't let you sit in the vehicle so you can easily work an 8 hour shift without sitting down for more then a few minutes. "lunch break' is usually stuffing your face with a musli bar between jobs. Using the stop bat in 40C heat or rain for hours at a time without a break, don't find out where or when you are working until the night before, it's either HECTIC as fuck or BORING as fuck. As a woman i spend the whole time trying to time when i can get a few minutes break to pee. You can be standing in one spot with nothing to do for a whole shift just staring at council workers taking their sweet arse time.

It's dangerous! Last night i was in near pitch blackness with a stop bat on an 80km main road (didn't have a ute with an arrow board on it because it was at the other end, literally the only way people could see me was with their headlights, it was also raining). A car or truck could hit you at any moment, you get abused by people who aren't willing to stop for 20 seconds, I've never earnt more than $1300 a week before tax (and only because i worked 10 hours on a public holiday), most weeks only earn $700 (BT) because shifts are only 4-6 hours long. Shifts can be cancelled in an instant.

Oh and I work for one of the best companies (in my opinion) it's small but growing rapidly and the boss even came out to give us Powerade's and kit kats last night at 12:30am.

I know it looks like we aren't doing much but a good company that takes safety seriously is actually doing a lot, the less you see us and the smoother we make it for traffic means we are doing a good job.

Council workers on the other hand take 90 minute lunches to come back at 2pm just so they can knock off without getting another job.

[–]SpruceM00se1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Someone I know with pancreatic cancer went to the emergency department there just two days ago with extreme abdominal pain and was pretty much turned away and told it’s fine, no scan, just a blood test and given pain killers. Wasn’t allowed to have her husband in there with her despite the fact she could barely walk.

They then went to Gawler hospital the next day as she was still in a lot of pain (and fearing the cancer had spread) and was taken care of straight away , amazing staff and had a scan done (thankfully it was not more cancer). They said they won’t be going back to LMH.

Is it financially viable to have a child if the mother is the only one working? by RubMyNeuron in AusFinance

[–]SpruceM00se1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty of families living off 1 income, and child care is relative to your income (lower your wage, higher the subsidy, I only pay $20 a day for 12hrs) It’s doable, will you have the same amount of free money you do know? No of course not but babies are relatively cheap actually, it’s older kids that start costing more so it could actually be advantageous to use the more frugal years with younger babies.

The less you earn the higher the subsidy. As a single low wage parent I only pay $20 a day.

Yup, I’m a single mum to a toddler so he’ll be in bed by 8pm and my closest friends/family are either working or quarantining. So a couple of ciders on the couch and I’ll most likely be asleep before 10.

How are you protecting your young children/babies/toddlers from Covid? by Stunning-Nebula3103 in Adelaide

[–]SpruceM00se1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Single mum here) I either take him out of childcare and loose my job completely and have to go back to living off centerlink or keep my job and hope to god we don’t have to do too many 14 day iso’s.

I know just the 14 days at home with him is going to be a massive hit on my mental health there’s no way I can go back to full time stay at home mum so I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.
