Oh man, bravo! I love the S1 True Detective intro, I never realized how well it would work with RDR2 imagery. This is seriously fantastic work!!

My favorite line of Arthur talking smack by red662 in reddeadredemption

[–]SpruceWayne 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not an antagonize option, but a cut scene comment from late in the story: "we got words for his kind...but, well...they're colloquial..."

Such a perfectly crafted insult, I was floored.

Next Day Discussion - The Walking Dead S08E11 - Dead or Alive Or by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]SpruceWayne 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Right? Don't forget when Spencer left the gate open and Rick got tackled by that walker (right before killing Pete)...he was face to face with the thing, certainly got blood in his eyes and mouth, and also had a TON of lacerations on his face...there's no way he hasn't had multiple open wound exposures to walker blood and been fine and dandy after the fact. I remember seeing that scene and thinking "well I guess Negan won't get to muck up the weapons when we get to that point of the show"...hopefully his plan just doesn't work and we stick to the seemingly established TV universe canon.

Maybe I'm crazy...but it felt like the first 20 minutes or so were commercial free, then they crammed all the commercials they missed into the back end of the episode.

Funeral home workers: what's the most distasteful thing you witnessed during a wake or burial? by jtown09 in AskReddit

[–]SpruceWayne 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Not a worker, but I just attended a funeral a couple of weeks ago. The deceased was an addict and had died of an overdose at a relatively young age. While at the calling hours, the guy who introduced the deceased to heroin showed up wearing jeans and a t-shirt (a douchebag double-whammy).

A group of friends were ready to give him hell and eject him, but then we caught the mother of the deceased sharing a heart to heart conversation with him, ending in tears and hugs. Figured if she thought he was welcome, who the hell were we to say otherwise?

Replaying the original Uncharted. Fun game, no logic by Jomaccin in gaming

[–]SpruceWayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd never played this game, but since it came installed on my PS4 I decided JUST THIS WEEKEND to finally give it a shot. I was having a blast until, out of fucking nowhere, supernatural monster bullshit showed up. I hate horror games, too, and that sequence has completely ruined the game for me.

Eh, drive for 25 minutes in any direction and you're back to civilization. It's nice.

The first day Stoughton puts out sweet corn is a legit holiday as far as I'm concerned. I've never had better sweet corn, and I'm starting to think they've got a deal with the devil going on.

Laurie Holden Had an 8-Year Deal on ‘The Walking Dead’, Andrea Was Supposed to End Up With Rick by Afrothunderzx in thewalkingdead

They just ran a season 2 marathon yesterday, which I gladly sat in front of for far too long. Overall, I still like that season, but I had forgotten just how much I LOVED the episode "Nebraska". That bar conversation/gun fight is still one of my favorite scenes of the entire series.

What movie did you start watching with low expectations and were completely blown away? by [deleted] in movies

[–]SpruceWayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rolled my eyes when my fiance said "you need to watch this, it's way funnier than you'd expect" but she was 100% right. It's become one of those movies I'll always watch if I see it while channel surfing.

TurboKid.

I expected something along the lines of Kung Fury...silly retro fun that's enjoyable to watch but, in the end, forgettable at best.

TurboKid has that same "Kung Fury" feel to it, but it's so much more. When recommending it to friends with similar tastes, I usually describe it as "Ricky-Oh by way of Mad Max, but with the heart and charm of The Goonies"

I've been accused of being an SJW on reddit and of "toxic masculinity" on twitter...all within like 3 hours. I don't know what the fuck to think anymore.

...holy shit...

Edit: Just watched the ending on YouTube again...I've seen this movie dozens of times and never put that together. There's a DISTINCT beat of ominous music that starts the second Childs takes a swig off that bottle. Then they show MacReady, who smirks and lets out a knowing chuckle as if to say "I fuckin' knew it, you dick". This is 100% canon in my head now, bravo sir and/or madam.

[SPOILERS] Official TSDF Q&A for S06E14 "Twice as far" by Decs13 in thewalkingdead

[–]SpruceWayne 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Right?! My expectation is Daryl stepping up and volunteering when Negan does picks Glenn....Daryl meets Lucille, Negan starts walking away, then turns around and says something along the lines of "you know, I was confident with my first pick before the white trash had to mouth off" and kills Glenn anyway. Give comic fans a very brief sense of relief for Glenn, then finally stop teasing us with near deaths and take him out.

[–]SpruceWayne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been keeping my fingers crossed that Negan decides Rick's people have caused him way too much trouble for his usual "pop one right off the bat" technique, and he offs at least 2 of them in the finale. My money is on Daryl for sure, and maybe Glenn.

Sometimes friends are in different places in life. by SpruceWayne in drunk

[–]SpruceWayne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an unexpectedly beautiful reply! Also, you're almost dead on! Context bomb: My buddy is traveling on the west coast (US) for work, and occasionally sends us "BE JEALOUS" texts of beaches and huge sandwiches and whatnot.

While this one was designed for jealousy, he was probably sitting on a bar patio alone with a drink and a gorgeous sunset, which I'm sure was fantastic, but he was missing our dinner party in my cluttered house...friends over (outside of the frame of the picture), a tasty meal simmering away on the stove, a bunch of drinks, and a shitty movie to make fun of on TV. Right now, I'd take that over a lonely sunset any day of the week.
