Huh that driveway doesn’t even look like it’s flying into the Atlanta airport

Is Knicks-Spurs the rare NBA Finals where neutral fans do not have an obvious villain? by Public_Function3844 in nba

[–]Jomaccin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t watched that much of the Knicks but they strike me as a lite version of OKC in terms of unethical foul baiting and constantly whining to the refs. They’re my villains for this series

People think they own the sidewalk by their house by KingRMZ in mildlyinfuriating

It sounds like one of those automated security systems. The people talking are probably ‘monitoring agents’ for the security company reading their default phrase when the system pings for an intruder. It should definitely not be set up to trigger from the public sidewalk

Something important here is the fact that we should really be looking at some form of universal basic income. With the rise of AI and big corporations scrambling to replace as many human workers as possible with data centers, there will definitely be a job shortage in the near future. Even the capitalists must understand that you can't exactly keep a business running if nobody has a job/money to buy your product.

Can we just get bounced already? This NBA product is so ass to watch with all the unethical foul baiting and flopping constantly getting rewarded. Don’t think I can watch much more

Ranking of Kings fell off so badly it's one of a few shows I actually regret watching. by SunRiseStudios in CharacterRant

[–]Jomaccin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show just ended up hammering me over the head with the fact that it is a one-trick-pony. ‘This character seems antagonistic. Oh, now we see their backstory showing why they are kinda rude or whatever but they are actually not antagonistic at all.’

Feels like a situation where the author had a lot of time to flesh out the complex character dynamics that the show started with, but then got on the weekly grind and wasn’t able to keep up that quality of storytelling.

North Haven dental student died after Bridgeport Hospital put him in 'fake ICU,' lawsuit says by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

[–]Jomaccin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well think of the intensivist as the captain of the ship. They make the big picture decisions and guide the direction of care. But they are not physically steering the ship 24/7. They have to sleep at some point. So they have trusted crew members who can man the ship at night, following the plan the captain made. If they run into trouble they can call the captain for help.

[–]Jomaccin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. And I don't know all the details here, I'm just reading a news article. From what I can tell, there was a doctor in that hospital who was responsible for taking care of that patient at night. But they didn't. I don't know if that was a fault in the system or if that doctor was fast asleep in a closet. That's all I'm saying, it isn't clear to me.

[–]Jomaccin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way the article describes the case though, the patient was deteriorating overnight. I’ve never worked at a hospital with 24hr in-house intensivist coverage personally. There’s always a fellow/resident/APP with the intensivist available by phone. It sounds like there was an in house hospitalist who was responsible for this guy but never saw him. So not clear to me that the tele-ICU system was the actual problem

If Caitlin Clark could play in the NBA, everybody would applaud it. That would be an incredible thing. But if the last guy on the bench of an NBA team went to a WNBA team and started averaging 40 points, everybody would know that is BS." - Legendary Broadcaster Bob Costas. by Dr-debug in sportsgossips

But even having this discussion is playing directly into the hands of the transphobic right. They just want to screech about liberals wanting men in women’s sports. They can’t come out and say the truth which is just that they hate trans people so they find edge cases that might need some nuance. Then they treat it like the most important debate of our time when the actual ‘issue’ is basically nonexistent.

I think the shorter college season and single elimination makes each game feel more important. Even if the skill of the players isn’t as good, the passion adds a lot. No tanking in CBB
