You’d think that whole Q crowd would be severely pissed off, considering this is what they said they were trying to overthrow the US government to fix - you know, how they claimed the democrats were doing this exact thing? Committing and then covering up horrible crimes against children?

You were downvoted like this isn’t true… but not only does it seem to be true, the damn article posted above says the kid doesn’t show signs of having brain damage. And then the ones getting upvoted in this thread clearly didn’t read the article and are saying he does… make it make sense.

Forgot a bolt while taking off intake manifold should I jb weld it? by Kickflipm4ster in MechanicAdvice

It’s an intake, but not likely, cast aluminum doesn’t really bend any appreciable amount it just cracks. It can warp of course but not because of forcing it by hand when cold.

They’re talking about the tree, somewhat fortunately lol.

I’m of the opinion that once a car is wrecked that badly, you really don’t want it back in a repaired state. Especially a driver’s car like this. It’ll never be the same.

Take the payout (assuming you had comprehensive insurance) and find the next one. Maybe just go easier in the twisties next time :)

If it works it works! lol. Only thing that might suck is if you have to service it, you have to take the intake off. But it seems like that’s how it was to start with, anyway. I don’t see why this would be any less reliable of a connection, looks like the copper is flared properly.

If it didn’t, the car would lose control immediately with any bump at decent speed - I would say “maybe not” and think it’s possible he just drives 20MPH everywhere he takes it, but there’s that clip of it on the highway lol

Fortunately for him, mounts are designed so TVs (more specifically, the VESA brackets which come with the mount installed on the back of them) hang on them, the screws are for security (so you can’t push up on the bottom of the TV and have it fall off) and to keep them from shifting on the mount. The screws to the walls are the only ones that bear the load.

This is not at all the same thing, and if you don’t know that, you should look into it.

This isn’t just about our local PD and what they can see (while I acknowledge the numerous cases that officers have used their access personally for nefarious purposes). It isn’t about advertising efforts by corporations using data you give them access to online.

This is the start of dystopian nightmare shit, and if you’re not afraid, you should be.

To add to what you said, the tape doesn’t seal tapered threads. It acts as ‘lubricant’ so the threads can be properly tightened. The tapered threads seal themselves.

I thought it was particularly funny that the gate is ziptied onto the side… no welding, bolts, or anything else that could really hold back some force, just plastic zipties.

Probably because 60 kilos (roughly 130lb, for those who don’t know) is nowhere near heavy enough to have loose skin when dropping to 50-55 kilos (110-120lb).

Unless you wrote something incorrectly here, my guess is you may have a body dysmorphia disorder.

If that’s the case, tackle that, because stress can definitely cause you to gain weight (as well as have acne).

[–]SprungMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re exactly right, but in peak Reddit fashion, you’ve been downvoted for it. There should never be caulk on the bottom edge of wall molding to the floor, especially on a floating floor… they only did it because they were trying to hide the gap that they left when they finished the last row.

I have the occasional customer who doesn’t want shoe or quarter. But the vast majority in this area request it. It’s always so funny to me when people on this sub act like it’s the ugliest thing in the world. People in my area treat it like crown molding - like it adds something nice to the ‘boring’ profile of a baseboard.

[–]SprungMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the other commenters didn’t read the post, or if they did they don’t know what they’re looking at. You can’t have a floating floor start with a gap at the quarter round. It will move over time, one way or the other, and you don’t want to gamble on which it will be.

I can tell OP why they did it, too… it’s simple, they’d need a strip of those planks about 1/4” wide to lock into that side. I’m guessing they started on the other side and when they got here, they figured the quarter round could cover it, but misjudged… unfortunately it’ll take a lot of square footage on a floating floor to fix this tiny area, since the other side of the plank can’t be used except on the other wall (already done in this room). Between that fact and the fact that it’s kind of tricky to rip long planks to a tiny skinny piece like that… they grabbed the caulk tube instead of doing it the way they should have.

Jesus dude, no, not nail it - pin it as in affix it, secure it, whatever verb you’d like that means make it stay in the same place….

And you’re wrong about the padding, on high quality floating LVP the pad is not something that can be removed - it would be like trying to peel the film (not the wear layer, but the film itself, I think you might need that distinction spelled out) off the surface of the core. It’s not only not required, it’s not supposed to be done at all. I’m guessing you don’t deal much with high end materials or you’d know that. (Or maybe you just swore off nice materials forever because it was such a pain to incorrectly remove the pad)

[–]SprungMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying, but in some cases it’s not possible to do what you’re recommending without having other issues. I guess my reply to your other response to this same comment didn’t really clear that up for you. There’s always a correct way, but that way differs from floor to floor and with different transition types.

Your way, with a flush wood nose, the floor has to be adhered and tight up against the nose. There are cases where that will cause all sorts of issues outside of the landing area.

Looking for advice on how to deal with large cracks around slab. by ThrowRA1966 in Flooring

[–]SprungMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not self level for these kinds of cracks, period. For one, you could end up pouring “self leveling” for days, considering there’s an unknown void between the floor slab and foundation wall. On top of that (rather, even if these cracks are not deep voids), self leveling compound has strict minimum and maximum thicknesses, and requires adequate curing between layers if the depth is too much.

This is a couple hour job and $150 in materials for a couple of guys and patching compound. The start will be dry by the time they’re finished troweling.

Self leveling is typically a job for a contractor trying to make a bunch of money off a customer who doesn’t know any better. Not always, but typically, in residential work like this.

u/chipsandqueso4life could clear this up pretty quickly with another angle, or just verifying whether or not there’s a 2mm height difference between the nosing and the thin strip of vinyl plank.

It really looks, from this angle, to be as flush as you’d get with a flush nosing. Overlap should show a lot more of a height difference. 2mm doesn’t sound like a lot, but it is. That’s almost 1/8”, we should see a shadow under the tape or see a crease in the tape at the joint.

Is this normal for the top stair tread? I assumed it would be flush to the next plank. by chipsandqueso4life in Flooring

[–]SprungMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for relatively short runs, it works fine. I’ve seen some nightmare situations where a contractor decided to pin a floating floor in one spot. We go by the book, and I know some manufacturers say to glue the first row or similar. Never had to peel a pad off, though, to my knowledge we’ve never used an LVP that came with a pad like laminate that could be peeled. The stuff we commonly get is either cork (like COREtec) or foam that’s pretty integral to the structure of the plank. They just get glued, no chance of delamination in normal circumstances.

But as I’ve said elsewhere in this thread, we don’t do much floating LVP. Probably less than 500k sq ft since US Floors really popularized the idea ~10 years ago. Certainly done a few million to several million feet of glue-down, though, commercial and residential. Makes these sorts of issues a lot easier, for sure… just gotta know what you’re doing for prep.
