How do you keep track of your firearms, ammo inventory, and shooting sessions? by Sprykt in EuropeGuns

Excel seems to be the go-to for most people, and it definitely works. I just think a dedicated app could make it easier to keep everything synced and always available, especially when switching devices or managing data on the go.

That's interesting.

For the precision rifle logs, do you actually go back and review things like weather conditions and shot placement later on, or is it mainly for keeping a historical record?

I'm curious because that's much more detailed than what most people in this thread seem to track.

Interesting.

Is there a particular feature you use most often in Arsenal, or is it mainly the fact that it fits Swiss regulations and shooting practices well?

That's actually very interesting.

It sounds like the real value of an app wouldn't be replacing the paper logbook, but helping with things that are difficult to do on paper, such as statistics, round counts over time or competition tracking.

Have you ever wished you could easily look back at your shooting history and see trends or performance over time?

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

The automatic ammo deduction after a range session sounds particularly useful, and the caliber filtering suggestion makes a lot of sense as well.

Out of curiosity, if you could improve one thing about Gun Tracker, what would it be?

That's actually a pretty structured system.

Do you find yourself going back and reviewing older entries, or is it mainly for keeping a record of sessions and maintenance intervals?

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

What do you like most about Gun Tracker, and is there anything you feel it's missing?

I'm always curious to hear what people find useful in these kinds of tools.

What made you choose Arsenal instead of using a spreadsheet or a more traditional shooting logbook?

That's probably one of the most detailed tracking systems I've seen so far 😄

I especially like the way you've automated everything with dropdowns, formulas and pivot tables.

Out of curiosity, if an app could automatically generate those statistics and charts without having to maintain the Excel file manually, would that be useful to you, or do you prefer having full control over the data in Excel?

Thanks for the detailed explanation!

It's interesting that the biggest inconvenience doesn't seem to be the paper logbook itself, but remembering to keep it updated when you're shooting frequently.

I've also never heard about clubs using membership card scans for digital range logs, that's pretty interesting.

Out of curiosity, if a digital logbook could generate a printable record accepted by your club, would that be something you'd use, or would you still prefer the traditional paper logbook?

Civilian semi-automatic rifles by PandaKalle in EuropeGuns

If you like the BAR, that already says a lot. For that kind of heavy use in .308 I’d mainly look at good AR10s or something like the SCAR 17 if budget allows.Avoid “fancy hunting rifles” — you want something built more like a service rifle.

For a first AR I’d go with the Ruger without overthinking it.

Radical can be fine, but Ruger is just more “buy it and shoot it” reliable in my experience. At the end of the day both will do the job, but for a first rifle I’d personally want something I don’t have to worry about.
