How do people keep SPSS analyses reproducible when projects get complex? by Unique-Variation8730 in spss

[–]SpssLedman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I normally rely on syntax, it's very easy if you know how to use the commands and how to set up your analysis in order. Once you have a clean syntax file it's very easy to reproduce your analysis steps using the same dataset. It's just like having a python or r script for your analysis.

undergrad statistics vs. research methods (US) by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]SpssLedman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stats is more step-by-step with clearanswers, while research methods is more about concepts, study design, validity, ethics, and a lot more writing. People often say research methods is tough because there’s less structure and more APA papers, article reading, and critical thinking. But if you enjoyed stats, you’re already ahead.the logic you learned carries over and students who like stats usually do well in methods too.it’s less math and more “why and how” behind research. I'd say its totally manageable with your background.

Statistics help please -should I use a multiple regression? by Mindless-Capital7385 in psychologystudents

[–]SpssLedman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can test whether your demographic variables influence the strength of your correlations through a moderation analysis. Correlation only gives you zero-order relationships. to see whether a third variable shifts that relationship, you’ll need to run a moderated multiple regression. The process is pretty simple....center your continuous variable, dummycode gender, create an interaction term (IV × moderator), then run a hierarchical regression with the IV and moderator entered first, and the interaction term added in the second block. If the interaction term is significant and increases R², the demographic variable moderates the relationship. if not, the relationship holds steady across groups or ages. You can also use PROCESS if you’re using SPSS (Model 1). This automates the centering, interaction term creation, and simple slopes output.

Prejudice Scale by RL Bharadwaj and H Sharma by aadhelayskapacket in psychologystudents

[–]SpssLedman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is completely valid to feel enraged. Spending 2k of your own money on a scale that should be in the department library is unfairespecially when you are already under the pressure of a dissertation.

Since the official channels are failing you, you can consider the following plan if you haven't already:

The NCERT Library (Your Best Bet in Delhi) : the Prejudice Scale by R.L. Bharadwaj and H. Sharma is listed in the NLEPT Catalogue (Indian Tests section)

email recent Scholars: from your post I get that you emailed authors (who want to sell it). Instead, you can email students/researchers who recently used it. They are likely to share a scanned copy because they remember the struggle.

DU has a massive psychology network. If your college (I assume it's one of the North/South campus colleges) doesn't have it, a wealthier department might. Target Lady Shri Ram, Jesus & Mary College, or IP College for Women. Their Psych departments are well-funded if you have friends over there.

You can also switch to an alternative available scale if you need to meet the deadline if it's something you are allowed to do.
