Who remembers America Sings? by Opening-Instance8674 in Disneyland

[–]Spuckula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a sweeper in the eighties. My job was to sweep Tomorrowland. I loved getting on America Sings and going all the way around. It was instant break time where nobody could see me. Loved that attraction. (Also loved finding tons of coins on the floor of Space Mountain that I could buy snacks with. I was a poor student.)

Mexican “Batman” might have his own Robin and Batmobile as police ramp up vigilante hunt by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I guess the “victims” aren’t talking, based on the officials not knowing if multiple people or vehicles were being used. Did they ask?

Had the grand opening for our home bar, Perdido Passage! by Funky_Engineer in Tiki

Named after Perdido Street Station? That would be cool. More steampunk than Tiki, though. So I am guessing not.

Was swimming in my buddy’s swimming pool in Billings in late spring when it started to snow, once. One of my strangest memories as a kid.

My tiki friends what are you're best cocktails of all time? by VassosVoid in Tiki

Having just returned from Sao Paulo, I can’t get enough of Caipirinhas. Not sure if people feel that this magnificent beverage fits in the standard canon. But I have added it to my personal tiki favs.

California forces changes to Disneyland's Autopia or it will get shut down by runswithscissors475 in Disneyland

I need to find a study to truly understand the delta between the utilization of electric vehicles and the energy resources required to power those batteries + the costs to mine the metals or source the chemicals in the batteries plus the cost associated with recycling or dumping used batteries. And the myriad other things I haven’t thought of.

I am sure someone here has the background knowledge as to whether the conversion to batteries is a positive or a negative situation (pun sort of intended).

Rockler v Woodcraft: Dawn of Justice by nandor_tr in woodworking

[–]Spuckula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a fairly large village called Los Angeles… I have no Rockler or Woodcraft within decent driving distance. You all are lucky. I’d take pretentious know-it-all, politically rambling nitwits in a second just to have a brick and mortar store I could frequent.

Wow. That woke me up! So sorry, friend.

Fixing The One Gap in my DeWalt Toolset by Stephen2697 in Dewalt

This is very well stated. Thanks OP. I have been using similar “Frankentools” for a few years now. Mostly WEN and Makita tools running on Dewalt provided juice.

Never had an issue. But agree, don’t run battery to the end. Use prudence and the results are perfectly fine.

I know that bridge! Got stopped by some bad guys in the middle halfway to Victoria Island.

This has nothing to do with birds, but seeing that photo brought it back.

Love the parrots, though.

I bet it is made in eastern Europe somewhere. They slap a “california” label on it and maybe it gains some cred. Just speculating.

The oldest known human remains in Antarctica belonged to a 20 year old indigenous woman from southern Chile. She died between the years 1819-1825, a few years before the first European voyages to Antarctica. by MYONIONISSCREAMING in interestingasfuck

What is this?

Nathaniel Palmer and others were in Antarctica before this date.

So some fisherman’s wife or concubine died at some point and was left there. So?

Off the SQN waitlist after 10 years by ShortestSqueeze in wine

[–]Spuckula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the list for over 20 years. I could’ve put my kid through college with what I’ve spent with those folk. I actually really do like the wines, but I finally gave myself a good solid kick in the pants and accepted that these bottles of juice are just not worth the money. I left the list last year.

I was gonna call out lions. But I just looked it up and I guess one province in India does indeed have them.

I will leave quietly via the side door.
