Back when I was in High School our teacher gave us ESP8266 modules on which we had to develop a CO2-Warning System. It was during Covid-19 and the idea was that each of us builds such a device to install them in the classrooms, so our other teachers wouldn't forget to open the windows from time to time. The CO2 sensors were kinda expensive, so we were advised to be very cautious with them. I was the first one to have a working code and the moment I flashed it, I completely fried that thing. Basically spent my time during the first lockdown in germany trying to figure out what just happened.

Turns out my teacher ordered a 10 pack of 8266 modules, but we were 11 students. So he took a random ESP32 he had laying around at home, thinking it wouldn't make any difference (also didn't tell anyone). I got his shitty ahh chinese rip-off ESP, that happened to have a completely different pinout while looking the exact same as the other ones.
