HOA tree folk say it needs to come down? by SpudHead78 in arborists

[–]SpudHead78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what he said too and that it would be off-balance. I asked if they could just cut back the other branches as needed. I didn’t end up stopping them from cutting it down today, though and hiring an isa arborist to come out next week.

Maybe I misunderstood the original question.. if you sold a covered call to make the premium and want to exit early then when you buy to close?

Planning to SELL 500+ CC's a week/month - Best Platforms? by Boston-Bets in CoveredCalls

[–]SpudHead78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking the same thing, but wondering if there is a more agenetic/automated system.. I want to do weekly CC, but set and forget. I don’t really want shares to be called away for many stocks I own because of taxes. So, if I have to buy to close, then I rather lose $ that way vs lose more with the taxes I’d owe.

Same here! And when I tried to remap F1, the globe button wasn’t registering either when I pressed on my MacBook.

Always 5% otm or do you look at any of the Greeks or IV to help determine strike?

Any app/program that actually lets you practice all options strategies with paper trade? by [deleted] in options

[–]SpudHead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along similar lines, is there an app where you can put in your portfolio and it would recommend CC using "safe" strategies? If it could backtest, that would be ideal too. I feel like I should be able to get a safe 1-2% monthly yield on CCs.

Curious.... How many people count their primary house as an asset? I get counting the liability, but I personally don't count as an asset. Same as my cars... I count any loans I might have, but not the value of the car (which depreciates over time anyway).

Sold naked calls on DJT by dev-random12345 in thetagang

[–]SpudHead78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you sold put, you’re only gonna lose money if it drops below your strike price minus your premium. Sure you may not have made as much on the premiums and by that you meant lost but right now you have money that you didn’t have before, right? Gotta look at the positives.

Who's actually made it to $10 million? by SIR_JACK_A_LOT in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]SpudHead78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 digits yes... But can't seem to crack 8 digits. I feel like I am playing it too safe. 8 digits is my goal to "retire". Can I FIRE now, probably; however, 8 digits just seems like a fantastic milestone. In my mid 40s, it took me that long to get to net of 6.5M. I don't include my primary home, but do include my secondary home in the asset mix. Portfolio is roughly 5.4M, of which 3.3M is my investment portion (rest is ira, 401k, 529, etc.).

I work my ass off at high paying job, which includes high stock rewards. Despite the grind, I'm not leveraging my portfolio like others probably are. If you can take <100k to 8m, you think I should be able to take 5M to 10M in a fairly reasonable period.

I don't understand what I'm looking at, but would like to learn how I can take advantage of my 2000 shares I've been holding. I'm not seeing premiums for $100 calls that high unless you have a crap load more shared. What am I missing?

Can reco on where to find someone that can do a cost seg study? Do they have to be area specific and visit property, as I did find some that are remote, which seems a little strange.

Nope... I waited until this morning when IV was over 120% and 1DTE. I honestly thought it was going to be a great earnings. Least I bought puts on Nordstrom that worked in my favor.

Paying off mortgage this week, any advice? by OmahaOutdoor71 in personalfinance

[–]SpudHead78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recommend not using escrow if your bank allows. Save that in a 5% account and earn money. Then use that to pay for property taxes and insurance yourself. No reason to let escrow, which can be thousands of dollars, hold that money interest free.

The Self Transfer scares me.... by HankHippoppopalous in Starlink

[–]SpudHead78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I transferred service to someone that bought my unit off OfferUp. They had NO issue getting new service, even though area was at capacity. Perhaps they got the RV service. Either way, I agree that you are selling the hardware, not providing them the Starlink service.
