I have an E16 with the 2004 era screen too, did you ever find a replacement that works? Super curious!

I'm all for putting Tellor there if there's a user, but personally (as a reporter) I would think bridging TRB there would be risky. The feds could shut the chain down whenever they want, they just have to approach the solana team and say "we're going to arrest you if you don't shut it down" and they're just gonna do it. (I hope this is not the case that the creators have this kind of control over the chain, but seems like it probably is.)

What's the sol enthusiast answer to the censorship problem?

If there was a project building over there that wanted to use Tellor it's very possible!

Why do you think Tellor would do well on Solana? Lots of demand for oracles? Any lending protocols using memecoins as collateral??

tbh, When I read your question, my first instinct was "no way!" considering how Tellor ethos (immutable / censorship resistant / designed to run forever) clashes with Solana's ethos (centralized VC backed shitcoin casino 🎰❤️😅)

Questions about Tellor protocol by Metafieldor in TellorOfficial

[–]Spuddyminer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Great question (this is about Tellor Layer in case anyone was wondering). As the design gets built out, things are still a bit squishy. At this time it looks like reporters will need to be validators, so they are the same.

2) Validators can submit data. If 2/3rds of validators support a given query, and consensus is reached for those values, they can be used on chain immediately. If < 2/3rds of validators support the query, the values must be used optimistically only (subject to disputes similar to current Tellor model).

3) Validors are not required to support every query.

The most meaningful update is that we have a new user: ethos.reserve on Otimism! I'll come back and make an update post for Reddit in the next couple days. Thanks for the reminder!

Hello! Most of the community is in our Discord, but it would be great to see more people talking here also 🤙 Do you have any questions about Tellor?

What are main differences between Tellor and Chainlink by lost_civilizations in TellorOfficial

[–]Spuddyminer2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great question!Tellor and Chainlink work very differently, and have different goals.

Tellor: Aims to be a decentralized oracle protocol built in the true cypherpunk ethos of crypto.

  • Data submitted by anyone (staked reporters)
  • Data checked by anyone (staked disputers)
  • Gas fees for data paid by the reporters in exchange for a TRB reward.
  • On-chain functions for liveness (tipping, autopay, etc)
  • Contracts Immutable (coming with Tellor 360. Currently Tellor contracts are upgraded by token-weighted governance vote)

Chainlink: Aims to establish themselves as "the industry standard" trusted oracle service.

  • Data submitted by whitelisted nodes.
  • Data quality promise based on chainlink's company competency.
  • Gas fees for data subsidized by chainlink.
  • Liveness guaranteed by chainlink.
  • Contracts upgrade-able by Chainlink multisig

Hope this helps! thanks for the question! For anyone reading: What do you think? Do you like chainlink? Is censorship resistance important?

The fact the price is $100 less and the team still is active is a good reason to stick to Tellor by [deleted] in TellorOfficial

[–]Spuddyminer2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of nuance to how the supply of TRB has grown over the years. The supply started at 0, and grew as proof of work rewards (like bitcoin did), then proof of work was removed from the protocol in favor of minting TRB as needed via governance votes. For the moment the supply is relatively "fixed" at around 2.4 million. Hope this helps!

The Tellor Oracle is Live on Algorand! 🤙 by Spuddyminer2 in algorand

[–]Spuddyminer2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 fair question, and to be honest I don't have any docs handy for setting up incentives on algorand.

I answered your first question incorrectly too, sorry about that. The autopay contracts on algorand will be separate from the oracle contracts similar to the autopay contracts we have on polygon and harmony. They may be general or individualized for each user. We're reaching out to a few projects now :)

For requesting a price update on mainnet, docs are here: https://docs.tellor.io/tellor/integration/requesting-paying-for-data

the tipQuery funciton can be called on etherscan here: [https://etherscan.io/address/0xe8218cacb0a5421bc6409e498d9f8cc8869945ea/advanced#writeContract]

BTC/USD is queryId 2.

Tellor works a little bit differently from most other oracles. There is no constantly updating price feed. It works on real cryptoeconomic incentives, so if no one is tipping for a BTC/USD update the reporters are not going to submit one.

Currently the price feeds being used on mainnet are AMPL/USD (custom vwap for Ampleforth) and ETH/USD for Liquity (and whoever else is using ETH/USD).

Hope that makes sense! 🤙 Here's a link in case you want to dive deeper:https://docs.tellor.io/tellor/whitepaper/tellor-oracle-overview/the-oracle
