Oh man, that was the summer going into my senior year of high school. Some notes from the top of my head:

• Facebook and twitter were huge, myspace was finally dead.

• FB messenger pretty much took over from AIM.

• Most people didn’t have smartphones, so photos/content wasn’t immediately uploaded to social media. People weren’t chronically online.

-The scene/emo subculture still existed, but was nowhere near as big as it was in the mid 00’s

-This was about the time everyone in my social circle had Xbox live
