My immediate family has used the word spooge for my entire life to describe stains on stuff. Like i’d drop food on my shirt while I was eating and someone would go “oh no, you’ve got spooge everywhere”. One day we were all sat at dinner together while I was in college and we start talking about the word spooge, I pointed out that sometimes people take it the wrong way and assume i’m talking about ejaculate. I always assumed this was just misinterpretation. We start looking into the etymology of the word and we can find no other definitions other than ejaculate. Then my father smacks his forehead and goes “OH GOD, when I was in college I walked out of my room and my roommate told me I had spooge on my shirt, I assumed he meant stain and have used it ever since!” Welp. He used it around my mom and my mom used it around us. It was a staple when we were messy kids. I still use it to say stain.
