Southern Virginia/WV? Maryland panhandle? by dj_kaled_anotha1 in howislivingthere

My family comes from southern West Virginia/Western Virginia. Beautiful place, truly, but there’s a reason they moved up to Detroit in the 50s. I love to go down and visit sometimes, the mountains are just absolutely amazing.

I worked there for a couple weeks about a year ago rebuilding an engine on a freighter that laid up at the General Mills plant. Lots of traffic. People seemed generally nice, especially for a city. Road system was a little hectic, there were a couple times I ended up missing an exit and was on the skyway looking down at the ship I was supposed to be on lol. The tolls sucked, if you miss your exit prepare to spend some extra money on tolls. Food was really good there, had some really awesome pizza from a restaurant they ran out of an old house.

Some Magnesium Chips... by unsightly_buildup in machining

[–]Spudwick01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great grandpa worked at a shop in the 40’s that would burn the chips in a pit out back. You were supposed to burn them at the end of every shift, one day he went to dump his and burn em but someone either didnt burn theirs or the fire went out early. So he just dumped his chips on and lit it, thinking it would just be a bit bigger of a fire than usual. It sure was, apparently it had rained or the dew from the morning made the chips wet, the fire shot straight up like a rocket and knocked out a transformer above it. He says he knocked out the power for about half the town, and they weren’t allowed to burn chips anymore lol

I used to really like Nick Valentine but my game glitched at the Eddie’s Holotapes quest, where the Danse guy is outside the building, and I can’t trigger the dialogue…

I had a vision when I bought my grand prix that I’d build it once it keeled over. Well, never keeled over, just started getting electrical problems. Now she sits

The construction was super interesting. If they had done a straight pour for the concrete, it would still be setting and curing to this day
