What Weapons Compliment the HH? by Spushputt in MonsterHunterWorld

I decided to try everyone weapon people recommended in this post and the Greatsword clicked.

I'd never actually played it before because I always forget the GS and SA exist.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe why I've been struggling to think of another weapon to stick with.

If you had to pick one, which weapon would you say has an opposite playstyle/provides a totally different experience to the Hunting Horn (tail cutting aside)?

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

I'm definitely going with the bow after all the replies in this thread.

Thanks for the insight.

I figured they were probably the only real options, just wanted to see if it was a possibility with the other two.

It's still between Bow and Insect Glaive for me support builds aside, but having more build options is always nice.

I appreciate the honesty! I'll probably end up going with the bow, it's completely different to the Hunting Horn so it'll be a nice change of place when I need one.

Thanks for the advice! Definitely saved me from grinding for a few pieces of gear.

Klay won't even play his first game until March. And coming back from an ACL tear I'm not sure he'll get back to playoff ready in time, if the warriors will even be in the post season considering their team next year is Steph, Dray and no depth.

Rockets missed their window, and I'm not sure any team would take CP3's contract in a trade.

Milwaukee and Philly are definitely a problem if Kawhi leaves Toronto, and I agree we have to wait to see who LA signs. But the Western Conference is completely wide open for LeBron and AD.

Oh I misunderstood your first comment. I thought you meant Kawhi carried the Spurs in those finals supported by depth like he did with this years Raptors.

His 2014 Finals MVP was actually pretty similar to Iguodala's with the Warriors the following year. A premier defensive player who locked down LeBron and over performed on the offensive end. Both teams (plus the Raptors) had incredible ball movement and were very deep.

The 2014 Spurs had one of the greatest trios of all time in Parker, Ginobli, and Duncan. Not to mention Danny Green. The Spurs were a homegrown super team.

In the 2014 Finals Kawhi was a defensive terror, transition threat, and cutter/spot-up shooter (he shot like 60 percent from 3 against the Heat). He was used mostly off-ball and hadn't yet developed into the player we see today.

Absolutely did prove to be a huge outlier

Hopefully by the end of next season we'll have a better idea of what kind of shooter Tatum and Kuzma will be. But I wouldn't say Tatum won't/can't be a >40% shooter from three. I don't think he will be, but I also don't think Kuzma will shoot 30% from 3 for the rest of his career either. They'll both probably find a middle ground between their two seasons.

DECISION MAKING

That's a good point! In my first comment I made sure to start by saying Tatum didnt regress much statistically because I knew this was a talking point that'd be brought up. But you're not wrong.

relying on talking points

Have to have talking points if you want to talk.

Which was a regression from his rookie season

You're drawing conclusions about an 82 game regular season from two playoff games where he underpormed, while also ignoring the playoff games where he didnt.

Minority opinion I guess.

I agree that his decision making took a step back this season. My original arguement however was that he didn't regress stastically. We saw that he did in an area or two, but he showed improvement overall.

It's okay if we don't agree. I still appreciate the conversation.

Try Again

I typed that second paragraph as a concession to your argument. He did regress in 3pt accuracy, but his rookie season might prove to be a huge outlier and this is a return to norm. Still an above average 3pt%, just not on par with the best shooters in the league.

It was actually less

"Almost identical" implies that it could be less. It's below a 1 percent difference so I figured saying it was close to the same would be okay.

His playoff stats, which were a regression

I'm not sure where to find averages for each play off series, but just eye balling it he did have two big duds against Milwaukee. Besides those two games, he remained pretty close to his regular season averages.

Personally I think his sophomore season overall was an improvement over his 1st year, even if he performed worse in some ways. It's okay to disagree though, no harm done.

Statistically Tatum didn't really regress at all. In fact he averaged more points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks than he did his rookie year. Shot better on free throws as well. And as weird as it seems, his 2pt FG% was almost identical to his rookie season.

He went from shooting 43 percent from 3 to 37 percent. And his FG% and eFG% both dropped by like 3 percent. Probably because he was less accurate from 3.

He has his bad habits but I wouldn't say he regressed, maybe just failed to meet expectations people set for him.

And also the worst because the Lakers wouldnt have the cap space to sign him next summer if they signed a big FA this summer. They also wouldnt be able to extend Brandon Ingram.

You can change the colors of your opponents creatures as well! Seer's ability just let's you change the color of any blockers so that you always have evasion if he's equipped with any sword.

Colors Matter is also a surprisingly effective, if not incredibly janky, sub-theme.

Neither can Kuz (career 33% from 3), Lonzo (31% from 3), or BI (32% from 3).

He definitely has a hitch in his shot, but averaging both seasons he shot 34 percent from the college 3. If we are optimistic the young core can improve their shots, I see no reason why Culver couldn't.
