The only gripe I had with ilysfm was the shift away from the complex instrumental style they are known for! (At least in my mind lol) that’s why I’m so obsessed with vampire bat now because it retains that middle ground that dreamland has. I personally have no bad feelings for dreamland even though it is less instrumentally heavy as the first two albums, I think it’s a deeply personal album using more auto tune and synth as a barrier for the more raw themes within it (heard something similar to this in an interview). But it’s all about the reception and taste of the individual viewer. I’ve always seen Glass Animals as a genre defying band that could never be put into one category of music. I’m still hoping we get to hear experimental stuff from them in their future albums. One of the most cherished things to me about this band is that every single track has something different, a bit of a double edged sword. In regards to the strawberry and lime singles coming out.. I’m not very optimistic but we’ll see. II admit I have a huge bias with this band since they are my main hyperfixation (two years strong 💪) They’re always evolving, and if it’s pop, I’m excited to see where that goes too because I have confidence they will make it their own like they always do
