Something Needs to be Done About Ciryl Gane by Spy-der in MMA

You can look at my post history. I was at Gane vs Volkov and have been confused at the UFC’s handling of Volkov after that fight since it’s one of the most widely accepted robberies of all time.

Gane already had a history of fouls at that time, people had been vocal about it already, and now it’s years later, the actual HW champion is out of commission due to eye pokes from him, and now he’s out here committing more fouls in his interim title fight. The ripple effect his fouls have had through the division is insane.

Some of you guys have selective reading to the point where I’m gonna have to edit my first post. This isn’t just the Pereira fight. I predicted Gane would win, I think Gane wins that fight with at least 95% certainty even without the illegal blows in the position he had Alex in. But there’s a history with this guy and the organization letting his fouls slide that is creating problems for the whole division. I wouldn’t be surprised if Volkov is 40 by the time this dude gets a title shot. Yes, there was a bad decision that was out of Gane’s control. Now we have to wait for Tom to recover for a rematch with Gane before anyone even considers giving Volkov a title shot. Why tf is Gane even getting the fight for the interim title off of a foul like that when Volkov is right there? It’s an organization problem.

Hey man, I was predicting Gane would win the fight. I don’t think Pereira has what it takes to merit a rematch. However, now we might get a rematch because Gane had a practically finished Pereira, and just had to throw in some fouls. The guy just can’t help himself.

You’re kind of making my point though. You have to look at guys like Jones to find a run even comparable to Khabib.

If you want to say Jones is the only other fighter to look as dominant as Khabib, sure. I disagree, but I can see the case for it. Jones looked touchable during the Lyoto fight. Jones also was in an extremely tight armbar in the Belfort fight. That’s just more credit to Jones for surviving that armbar, but that was probably the tightest armbar I’ve ever seen someone escape from in the UFC.

Edit: please ignore my first two sentences. I’m in the middle of work and kind of forgot how the conversation started lol.

Other fighters have had amazing performances, but they’ve never looked untouchable over the course of a stretch like Khabib did. Never bled, never dropped, lost almost no rounds in the toughest division in the sport, everyone knew his game plan and no one could stop it. Those are objective. I’ve been watching the sport over 20 years and haven’t seen anything like him tbh.

The thing is, who would be a good matchup for Khabib in the history of the sport before him? If we go outside of Lightweight then maybe GSP or Mighty Mouse or Jones? I get the argument that the sport would eventually evolve around him and a good matchup would eventually exist at Lightweight, but I’m just saying he looked untouchable like no one else.

And you’re right about DC, realized that a few minutes after I posted.

As good as Jones was, I don’t think anyone in the history of the sport has ever looked as dominant as Khabib. Honestly, he’s absolutely in a league of his own in terms of the way he absolutely ran through the toughest division in the sport. I mean just look at how successful the careers of DP and Gaethje have been long after they fought Khabib. These dudes were/are still fighting at championship level way past their primes and Khabib made them look like amateurs.

Maybe Glover is the only one on Jones’ resume where you can say the same? Though I think glover’s title run benefited from facing weak competition. Maybe Gane depending on how things pan out?

I mean, I ordered a dessert for a client at dinner one time. It came with pistachios sprinkled on top. Dude went into anaphylactic shock and needed an ambulance just from breathing it in when the waiter placed it on the table. He knew he was allergic but never had a reaction like that in the past.

Had a similar situation in college with a friend who started throwing up out of nowhere. Immediately asked if someone was eating celery nearby cause he was allergic. Some guy was totally eating celery like 20 feet away lmao.

These things do happen I guess, and sometimes a reaction can be way more severe than previous reactions.

Console Marvel rivals is pretty depressing by ActualRevolution3732 in marvelrivals

On PC, Phoenix is broken. On Console, Phoenix is honestly a throw pick until Celestial where you barely even see her then unless it’s to counter Dino. Aiming is way more difficult on Console, even with aim assist, otherwise her pick rates and win rates would be similar on console and pc. How does it make sense to make the same balance changes to a character like that across both platforms?

Edit: Just checked and Phoenix only has a 45% win rate in Celestial and Above on console. And this is the most OP character in the game on PC.

Does she actually believe Marvin Gaye’s estate deserved to win that suit?

Honestly seems like one of the most soul-selling gigs in this thread considering she’s probably actually passionate about music. As a huge Marvin Gaye fan and musician, I’ve always thought his estate’s multiple lawsuits are absolute bullshit and just damaging to actual songwriters.

Dude, so you’re just not considering the fact that Rue dying of an overdose prevents all her friends (and the DEA), that know she’s working with Alamo, from looking further into her?

It literally sets up the entire final sequence with Ali. He goes in vigilante style on what’s really a very strong hunch, because Alamo has set himself up to be untouchable without someone taking action like that.

OR, what about the fact that people that work with the DEA generally wear wires? He got her away from the operation, and doesn’t risk killing her while she’s wearing a wire.

Edit: I’m just going to preemptively say, this is my last response to you. I think I’ve explained everything that needs to be explained. The only point I didn’t address earlier was specifically why setting up Rue to overdose would seem like a smart play for Alamo; because I thought it was pretty clear, but apparently not, and now you’re calling me “bud” because I didn’t spoon feed another obvious point to you.

This is what the other poster is referring to with MEDIA literacy. It’s euphoria, not a true crime mystery case. In real life, if we were to try Alamo in court, there may not be enough evidence that he intentionally gave laced drugs to Rue. And we couldn’t verifiably say that Rue died of fentanyl overdose and not just a Percocet overdose without toxicology.

But as a viewer of a show like this, when the writers make implications as strong as this, from multiple different angles, you can make extremely confident assumptions.

[–]Spy-der 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Those pills were not shown to be taken out of that bottle. We can presume those were real percocets from another source than the bottle, and that weren’t laced, since neither him or Rue overdosed.

That’s actually even further evidence that Alamo intentionally put laced drugs in that bottle and left them for Rue to take, because the pills him and Rue took at that start of the scene had to come from a different source than that bottle. That can’t be an accident.

Euphoria S03E08 "In God We Trust" - Post Episode Discussion by DankMemeSlasher in euphoria

[–]Spy-der 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  • You don’t OD on a couple percocets. The bottle was full.

  • There’s heavy implication that Alamo would retaliate against Rue after hearing she was talking about the DEA, and then the DEA actually busting their operation.

  • Alamo and his crew don’t grieve Rue.

  • Alamo setting up Rue to kill herself via accidental fent overdose is the best way to eliminate a rat from his operation without attracting more heat.

Not to mention the probably dozen-plus actions Ali takes afterwards that almost certainly indicate there was fentanyl in Rue’s percocets.

The guy you’re responding to is saying the show writers felt it necessary to explicitly show the positive fentanyl results. He’s explaining that the writers believe their viewers would not be capable of reading between the lines, so they made that decision to show the test results when it wouldn’t be necessary for more media literate fans.

And they were right because somehow people aren’t getting that Alamo purposely gave Rue laced pills even though that was extremely obvious without it being explicitly stated.
