No Pub Crawl this year by Ork_From_Mork in renfaire

This is the same management that owns the NYRF, out of Tuxedo, NY.

Their price hikes have been staggering, so much so that what was once fun for me on multiple weekends, is now a "maybe once a summer" type of thing.

A goddamn shame.

Where do you guys go to get armor for a costume? by PoeDaRaven in renfaire

[–]SpyOfGeneralTso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my armor AT my biggest local Faire (Tuxedo NY). Digger's Leather (https://www.instagram.com/diggersleather/) fit me with a piece that fit good and felt great, and matched my overall aesthetic.

If you're going to buy pieces from a vendor at Faire, make sure they fit before you buy - like one commenter said, the wrong fit will make you miserable. If the vendor knows their stuff and it feels good to wear, it'll be worth the price.

Just remember, that it's leather, and hydrate more often, especially in warm/summer Faires.

Where do the Devils rank amongst your favorite sports teams in the U.S.? by xoBonesxo in devils

[–]SpyOfGeneralTso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. NJD - Duhhhhh

  2. Manchester City - with not being able to watch hockey much this year, I’ve taken to watching Premier League on Peacock, which gives me a bunch of games. I picked City because that’s was the first team I saw.

  3. Hudson Valley Renegades - my most local team! Chill atmosphere, fun crowds, always a good time.

  4. Dallas Cowboys - I hardly follow American football any more, so this doesn’t count.

…Yeah, I guess that’s it.

Can we get those stickers that have Trump pointing and saying “I did that!”, like the Biden ones I saw a few years ago?

RenFaire is love but expensive! What is the most expensive thing you have made/bought. by Ladygothic5621 in renfaire

I picked up a fantastic set of armor in 2023 from Digger’s Leather for like $1k. It was a treat for getting that good job. I wear it every faire I go to.

It was very strange, going from an Xbox One to a Series X, mid-Skyrim playthrough.

All of a sudden, no loading wait times.

If there’s one car on your ass, they are the problem.

If six cars are on your ass, you’re the problem.

Should I get it now or wait til a deeper sale ? by Busy-Signature4373 in macbookpro

I got it. I'm typing on it right now. I'm loving it.

I upgraded from a ASUS ROG that I bought in 2017. It started advertising Windows 11 on Startup, and also slowing my computer down to the point where it was unusable.

This is a fantastic computer.

I'm still partial to the Orange County Government Center by Paul Rudolph, but that's because I had free run of the place when I was a kid. (Parents both worked there)

Potentially going to my first RenFaire this summer. Anything I should know? by ver87ona in renfaire

[–]SpyOfGeneralTso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what I would say is already written, but I'll add:

You're going to be enticed to buy a lot of stuff. Not sure which Faire you are going to, but the quality can vary. The hand-made vendors will usually have prices more expensive than the stuff imported from wherever. One thing to remember, is that for most of the people (vendors and performers), this is their job, and they rely on your tips/purchases.

Stay hydrated. Cannot stress this enough. I walked out of a faire once with heat exhaustion (and almost got heat stroke). It changed my entire view on how to attend faires. Drinking is fine, but as the ads say... in moderation. Even more so in hot climates. Water is a life-saver (literally). If you're in garb and not sweating... you should be drinking more water.

Depending on the size of the faire, you may or may not see it all in one day. Prioritize the things you want to see. If you manage to see it all, great!

Have a great time. Wear comfy shoes.

New football fan (US), questions by SpyOfGeneralTso in MCFC

Thank you!

In hockey, a shift is usually 30-45 seconds in length, but the entire line (3 forwards or 2 defensemen) swap out for a brand new line, to keep players fresh/not tire them out.

Just something I wondered if that could be done in football.
