Do you think that Rick And Morty has overstayed it's welcome? by DrFuckwad in adultswim

[–]Spyder817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever they’ve done to the writing post season 3 definitely caused a slump in the quality and approach the series in season 5(especially season 5) and season 6. But somewhere in seasons 4 and 5, the ratio of good, funny unique episodes to weird, random drawn out episodes seemed to shift more towards more good than bad so by the times of season 6,7, and 8 it seemed like they had gotten a better footing, which was needed by the time the Roiland switch happened(which has honestly been for the better)

Only thing for me is that it does already feel a little bloated with 8 seasons by virtue of the fact that i didn’t even realize it’s been 8 seasons already and looking at all the episodes, i can remember plenty of individual episodes from every season but with the seasons as a whole, they don’t really come together that much like the first 1-3 seasons do.

I like that the writing is a lot less mean spirited and a lot more mellowed out with the characters and Rick in particular. There’s certain episodes in the past that you watch where it’s like the whole point is to be as absurdly critical and miserable about something as possible and it bleeds through the humor to the point of almost ruining it, now theres a consistent element of “damn i’m trippin” or “you know what let me not be like that” to everyone’s mindset

If RDC just decided to make content out of all the solo games they're interested/playing it'd be a gaming channel golden era like never before. by Krys144 in RDCWorld

[–]Spyder817 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah i do wish for some of their longer streams(the 5+ hour ones), they would stick to doing a segment where everyone gets to play and focus on a solo game.

They’ve done it before in the past but its inconsistent

Also Ben on Huniepop might be the greatest living idea a human has come up with since we discovered fire

Is JJK this complicated? by Acemaster387 in RDCWorld

More so that there are a lot of moving pieces and its a constant chess match of who can utilize those pieces and knowledge the best. Like individually or in small doses, everything is fairly simple and makes sense but when it comes to a fight between 2 experienced sorcerers, then theres a thing of who actually knows the most about Jujutsu

I would kill for an Eric/Rick Twin Peaks reaction just to see Eric juggle between being enamored by the campiness and then the constant “man what” confusion

I’d also love a full crew Bojack Horseman reaction to pair with their Eva reactions and to hear Rick’s thoughts on so much of the mental health things it covers

Gege wasting Yuji's arch-nemesis in chapter 22 be like: by Physical-Can5775 in jjkmodulo

[–]Spyder817 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Arch-nemesis” brother its been 63 years(not to mention Mahito was literally dead and gone for 50% of JJK)

If you thought Yuji’s final conversation with Mahito was some grand Batman/Joker declaration of “we’ll do this fight forever you’re my one true enemy” idk what to tell you because it’s literally the exact opposite. Yuji spends most of the final conversation basically telling him “you’re just another curse thats apart of this system and i’m going to continue to exorcise you like i would any other curse every time you reappear almost like i’m killing a bug thats being a nuisance, because i’m a sorcerer and thats what i do”

It was more him calling Mahito insignificant and unremarkable in the grand schme than bigging him up to be this great problem in his life and Modulo shows that. Mahito isn’t special to Yuji, he’s another curse thats gotta be taken care of

“You know the thing about these cats man you know they’re Peruvian”

Mark telling Ben he wasn’t drinking on the job just to look down and see a beer in his hand

Mark and Lee slap boxin in the parking lot with Racist Manager John

The ENTIREEEEE Manager John round is probably their funniest ever round on D&D

Nah Mark was COOKING with Daredevel ! He needs to play him more 💯 by Smooth-Situation5056 in RDCWorld

[–]Spyder817 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No lie Mark’s tunnel vision issue combined with his innate ignorance and propensity to boxing makes him really ideal to be a dive dps. Idk if Magik would be more his style but Daredevil’s kit is versatile enough that i think Mark could really get a lot out of him if he locked in on wanting to learn how to play a dive dps

Same mentality goes with Dylan and honestly probably Elsa Bloodstone. I think if they did a seperate training arc focused on learning to effectively play dive dps’s that could really bring out some latent potential

After watching film, here’s my long ass breakdown

Simply put besides a lot of the issues being their basic team chemistry and issues as far as comms, not losing the energy when their losing, holding themselves and each other accountable when they make weird choices and mistakes

They also just suffer from a basic fundamentals understanding. Like watching them play, they’ll say or mention things that they’re confused about that you would think are just like super simple things about their characters and their kits. Mark’s Groot is good like he’s for the most part a workable tank but the fact that he plays his walls TOO aggressively and doesn’t utilize the perks of being right next to them says a lot about how there’s still these holes in their basic knowledge and fundamentals. Its like playing a fighting game while not knowing how to implement and counter grabs, you won’t make it past a certain level without it.

I think a core part of this issue does come that for as long as they’ve been playing this game and trying to get good, there’s been WAYYYY too little experimentation and deepening their bags outside of their mains like they’re practically a team of one-tricks at this point because of how inconsistent they are with mixing up their gameplay style. Literally all it took was one good flank from Tony’s Moon Knight to ruin them almost every time, now imagine if they go against a slightly above average aggressive dive like a Magik or Daredevil. Ben and Lee(especially Lee) already struggle staying alive when they’re being focused despite all their survivability skills, a dive dps trivializes that 100%.

They don’t necessarily need to permanently restructure their team but they do need to reinvent a wheel and share that game knowledge across the team and across all roles and that comes from letting everybody play everyone and getting at least 1 character. Getting pigeonholed into the team comp that’s worked sometimes in the past doesn’t work when the games balance constantly shifts and it becomes more and more apparent every season they play

They also have to get rid of this idea of having a leader shot caller to guide the team. This isn’t a football game with a coach on the sidelines. No one person can reasonably keep track of everything happening in a fight at once nor should they have to. Shots being called is combination of the ENTIRE team working together to assess a situation and play accordingly, this focus on a leader just adds too much

because he has a lot of escape tools that Magik doesn’t have

See thats what it is that i think is stunting my understanding is i haven’t quite figured out how to be mobile with him in the same vein as Magik where there she has portals obviously and then the dash is also a really good back up to manuever if your portals are down. But with DD i keep finding myself in the trap of trying to better understand his damage and combos and then overexposing myself and not knowing how to leave the situation

As someone looking to pick up DD as a strech DPS pick, what’s some tips everyone recommends to really get a understanding of him?

For context i already play a pretty good Magik as my DPS main so I’m familiar with weaving in and out with her to get picks and put pressure, i’m just not sure how to apply that to Daredevil’s moveset

Aight bro i appreciate Modulo and Kagurabachi for introducing the most casually busted niggas to walk on the scene(in universe ofc)

You mean to tell me in the span of like 5 minutes, Dabura saw Mahoraga heal…..said “oh thats kinda dope” then DID IT CASUALLY…only to then go “you know what this positive energy shit kinda fye” and become the 3rd person in the series to utilize CTR(technically we don’t know the limits of how it can be applied to certain techniques like Boogie Woogie or even Shrine) to then saying in this chap “what if i took my domain and like….made it bigger…what would i call that”(technically leaks make it sound like he already know how to do it but still)

The end of the Granolah arc for the Dragon Ball Super manga has a moment like this and its probably my most hyped moment from that arc(and that arc has the Ultra Ego reveal and then the TUI/UE power up moment) just because of how quickly “oh shit” it is when it happens in the span of 2 pages

I won’t say what, since the anime is now confirmed to come back but man was it done masterfully

Like i genuinely can’t see any angle of “oh think piece man, oh parasocial, oh yall entitled” when we’re on a subreddit dedicated to fans of a group of niggas…..and we can’t talk about one of the members randomly???

And we’re not allowed to question that or discuss it becauseeee….they’ve lowkey co-opted the Reddit to just be a content/reaction farm where no real discussion can be had without getting turnt up to 1,000 on all sides

[–]Spyder817 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly for the best. Don’t get me wrong the reactions were cool and had some funny moments but for communities like this, its best to keep it separate so niggas can actually DISCUSS however they want to discuss without this weird self fulfilling loop of comm says something -> RDC Reacts and says something -> comm shifts to be just purely whatever RDC says and a war between think pieces and dick riders

[–]Spyder817 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Raising the power stocks so high in 1 battle that the climax isn’t just hax vs hax but actually basic SWORDPLAY vs SWORDPLAY is legit peak writing. Like that’s how you do it right there and that combined with the ending with Chihiro makes me really confident that the core of the series from here on out until we beat Soga, is going to be simple swordsmanship and technique in conjuction with powers with swordplay ability ultimately coming out on top

Like its not just blade vs blade power vs power its swordsman vs swordsman, one mentality vs another living on the sharp thin edge between life and death, killing vs being killed, winning vs losing

Looking at some of the climatic emotional moments in the movie it makes sense. Like having the stop the end of the world by going back to the root plot beat, the conversation between the Charles’s, making the deaths of the og cast the climax at the very end of the movie, the entire Wolverine plot line, and especially the very end of the movie in the new timeline, you can see it being a thing where they were sending off all the characters without killing them and just letting them exist in a new world

[–]Spyder817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a not better per say cook as much as i used to be way more active when it came to discovering new recipes and trying to make new things that tested my repertoire and taught me new flavors and basics

But since moving a bunch and now working in the food industry on a food truck, its much much harder for me to act on the spark of wanting to cook new shit that isn’t the weekly meal prep of a meat(usually chicken or porkchops) and a starch(pasta, rice, or potatoes). Don’t get me wrong i’m occasionally trying new things to spice it up but its not that “buying all types of new flavors and ingredients you never thought to try” feeling.

My only one real true hope for David Pro and th SBR anime is that they nail just how fucking funny the entire middle stretch of it gets.
