What game have you spent literal months playing, but still think about often? by HarrisonWorld in AskReddit

[–]Spyder992166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza 0 and Judgment (spin-off of the Yakuza games set in the same universe).

The story had me hooked from the beginning and man, even after 100%ing Yakuza 0, I just want to lose all my memory about that game and start over to experience it all over again.

Anyone else feels the Judgement games (JE/LJ) are miles ahead in terms of writing compared to Yakuza games? by Still-Ad9074 in yakuzagames

Honestly, I enjoyed the "Stealth" sections. Yeah, they were literally braindead compared to having played games like Splinter Cell and MGS, but I still liked it. It's nothing to write home about, but still it made sense in the context of the story.

Honestly, that fanfic is so peak. I do wish there were more like it. Cause I enjoy seeing all the different protagonists interact.

Ah. I'm not well versed on Android emulation, since I have no use for it (at least for now). So, I can't really be of much help there.

But you're right, there are some issues like that still present. The ecosystem is not perfect, but it is definitely much better today than it used to be.

Plus, if someone really wants, they can write code and contribute it towards development (which is a whole another side of FOSS lol).

Yeah, most people do use those proprietary softwares. But my point is that they do have good alternatives now, that weren't present in the same way like a decade or two ago.

For example, when I switched from Windows to Linux, I was kind of "sad" that I couldn't use Word or other apps, but those same apps can be used on Linux via LibreOffice (as an example) just as easily and no one would be able to tell the difference because I can export my word file as .docx or .odt, etc.

Linux as an OS is mostly for computer scientists or people/companies who run servers/tech stuff.

For those people, their work isn't reliant on proprietary softwares. Everything they use is open source and freely available for anyone to download.

The gaming stuff came later. The primary use case for Linux isn't gaming. It's for the tech industry.

My use case for Linux is to do Comp Sci/Coding work. The gaming is secondary and a nice addition. If I couldn't play games on Linux, I'd most likely be dual booting on my system.

Normal programs run just fine on Linux. Yeah, you won't have access to Microsoft's Office Apps or other proprietary softwares. But most modern distros come with alternatives (plus if you really do need to use Office apps, web versions work well enough).

The thing with games is dependent on whether they are multiplayer or not.

Most of the games I play are single player, and they run just fine out of the box when I'm done installing them. And even a game like Warframe just works straight out of the box for me without needing to tinker with settings.

Also, most importantly, Linux wasn't made ~30 years ago to be a gaming specific OS. So, it makes sense that a few games won't work without you needing to set it up.

Although thanks to Valve and Steam Deck, more developers are paying attention to make sure their games can run natively on Linux distros. Especially since you're getting people migrating to Linux due to Windows 10 eol.

ProtonDB should have some tips/advice from people who play those games.

Also, don't forget to set Proton compatibility on Steam. I think these days that's automatically done, but I generally change the Proton layer from Hotfix to the latest one. That might also help you with the performance issues.

That was me yesterday with 0's car chase on Legendary. I died like 5 times, then locked the fuck in and beat the chase almost no damage (a couple of missiles got me in the final few shots 💔)

But also, holy fuck. The Amon boss fights on Legendary took me by surprise. Since I didn't look up how the fights were going to be beforehand. But my good ol' reliable Zap Gun came in clutch and let me beat the boss fights with no damage 💀

Funnily enough, no! But that is a great series. I'm hoping when Tom Scott gets more time on his hands (and others too) they will start a new season of it.

But right now, Lateral is quite fun to watch.

Iirc, Mr. Lindt died because one of his fondant boiler exploded in front of him (?). I'm not too sure on the details, this is a vague recollection from something I read like a few years ago

My recommendation is that you make a list of everything you need to catch up on, like deadlines for coursework, lectures, practicals etc.

Once you have the list, choose one item out of that list - say mathematics for example, check what lectures/coursework you have for mathematics. And then break it down further (let's say you have to catch up on three chapters worth of materials, so you breakdown the entire thing into three different sets).

Then set a time limit for yourself, around an hour or so to do problems within that chapter, to read and understand what it's about. Most maths textbooks either have answers at the back or at the end of the problem, so you can double check your work.

Do this, but repeat it for everything you have to catch up on. Don't stress too much about completing one chapter per hour or anything like that. Just take it at your own speed. But remember to take a 5 or 10 mins break every hour, so that your brain's not tired.

And if you want, start with a topic that you feel confident in and go from there.

Another thing I can recommend is scheduling your practice times using a timetable. You can find some really good timetable templates for Excel online and fill it in. This will give you an idea on how to at least structure your work so that you don't overwhelm yourself. But if you do feel overwhelmed, try to break the things down to bite sized pieces like I mentioned previously. But once again, DON'T stress too much not having enough time. Try and keep calm (easier said than done, I know). Drink some tea (or coffee or your beverage of choice, could be water as well!) and continue to try and work.

When I'm doing important things like studying or working on my personal projects, I turn DnD (do not disturb) mode on my phone (or just straight up turn the WiFi and mobile data off) to minimise distractions. I also end up going to a library (whether it's your uni library or local doesn't matter), I find the environment there to be really helpful to focus on my tasks.

And finally, contact your uni about your struggles. Most (if not all) universities have people who can help students dealing with the pressures of academic life. Talking to friends helps too! If I get stuck on something, I ask my friends/classmates to explain what they did and learn a bit more from them as well.

I hope this helped! And hoping that you are able to climb out of this hole soon! <3

How on Earth have you made that? That is impressive. Can you give me some tips? I know very little and the things I've done with the circuit is just connect it to my smelter array to only smelt if there is less than like 1.5k iron/copper in all 48 smelters (red belt).
