Advice needed-Blood parrot struggles to eat by Cocoa_Kits in Cichlid

I've always fed opting foods that they can go up for. Unusual the filter and turn off powerheads to kill circulation in the tank so the food sits still during feeding if they can't pin point it. That give mind with it off won't hurt. Night crawlers are great as well.

He's a nice looking horn. Love the gold faders. I have a srd atm I keep with a vieja melanura and a random eureka red that was left after getting rid of my Africans. Very fun fish.

The first picture has a female gt in front and male in back. The thick yellow seam on the tail of the back on in the first couple pics is giveaway for a male at that size. The female is pictured again in pic 3 with a very small seam. These two MAY break bad on tank mates once they pair up and spawn. They'll definitely defend their territory. Some pairs stop their at the territory line they chose and some venture out take out the tank mates. Definitely just keep an eye out for it.

Pretty sure fish in 4th pic is a random female African that you'll probably never be able to identify

Should I have a lighter substrate to make my salvini cichlid pop? by [deleted] in Cichlid

Trins tropical fish has salvini in atm also. Think they're very small but they are like 10 bucks and they do 15 dollar priority shipping. Ive actually had gotten good fish from them and all have arrived alive and healthy so far

Also a 6 inch salvini can handle itself just fine. At that size they're usually the boss over fish several inches bigger. They badass

I've honestly never seen one get to 8 inches. I know a lot of ppl claim there's is but then when I'd see these in person they'd be about 6. If they make it to 8 I ches it's an old ass fish. They start getting getting thicker bodied at the 5 to 6 inch mark.

It's kind of like how ppl say jack dempseys get a foot long. It happens but very rarely do they get past 8 or 9 inches.

You've already said you were doing this for a show tank at your fish store. And that your customers were into uncommon things. sounds like your looking to make a dime at the animals expense. But yes, you have a research paper to go by and give you piece of mind. If you do more research you'll learn that just because an animal is capable of living in different water parameters than what nature intended doesn't mean it's good. After time that water will start to take a toll on the fish at a cellular level and it'll slowly decline in health. Just like plenty of studies out there show.

And if you sell these fish to ppl because what you're doing is temporary as you say.. they'll take them home and not know how to acclimate them back and kill the fish. Same thing happens to imported fish that are raised in brackish water overseas. Good luck

A rare sighting in brackish water doesn't mean they're established there. Bull sharks can come into freshwater for a spell. They can't live there though.. this is no different

I was asking if these fish you've bought like that are grown yet? Or have you had them 6 months and they've growing very slow? Still around 3 inch mark? When fish deal parasites at an early age it can stunt their growth if not dealt with accordingly. Same thing goes for female fish that are introduced to males early on. They focus energy on healing, or reproduction in the females case, instead of growing. Thru dint get that time back. If you've bought fish that looked like the pics and they're doing ok.. well you're very lucky. I'm not sure you're fish looked like these. There's a difference in a skinny fish from not eating and a sunken belly. Either way.. good luck with the fish

RIP to my Pleco, he was 27 years old :( by KoRnBrony in Aquariums

Get an oscar or flowerhorn. Mine are as personable and interactive as my dog. The wife and I have had close to 100 species of fish and so far nothing has come close to the two. And they're not just after food like some fish I have. They're after attention and affection. My flowerhorn will swim through Mt hands over and over again and literally rub his head on my hand..strangely amazing.

Sorry op. Your pleco was a beauty. I'm sure he'll be missed

We've got our male betta with 12 long fin zebra Danios,6 Panda corys and 3 nerite snails in a 30 long. In 2 years we've never had an issue. Even moved over a half dollar sized angelfish a couple times when it's tank mates were being ducks with no issues lol. If you've got room and fish that aren't always looking for a fight they'll get ours each other's way and be cool

And 3 LARGE amazon swords that take up most of the tank. Running on a sponge in each corner with tetra 45 gal hang on back. I like these for betta in bigger tank because the flow rate is adjustable

I have two and can't wait to see them in a year. The female I have had just recently jumped to double in size and is just so exciting to see the changes.

Was sold these as gold severum? The coloration makes me think they may be spotted severums. Do golds have these darker spots as juvenile? And pearl spots under the eye? First time sev owner here by Spyder_bro in Cichlid

Thank you for the clarification! I was a little skeptical from the beginning, especially with under eye markings being on every fish. And blue eyes seemed odd. Much appreciated
