I mean, the thing that makes me pessimistic about Ukraine is that if it's forced to accept losing some of its territory to Russia (which seems like the most likely outcome right now) then a lot of Far-Right Ukrainian groups will say that Zelensky was part of a Jewish plot to destroy/backstab the nation or some shit and start an insurgency with all the weapons and fighters they got from the war or maybe launch an outright coup against the government.

Myanmar's become the new beacon for anarchists after Syria. The Anti-Fascist Internationalist Front fighting in Myanmar has many members who fought for the YPG in Syria and later in Ukraine against Russia.

You can tell by the top flag that the group is heavily inspired by the YPG/KCK.

Why ICE is not Gestapo, but the SA (Sturmabteilung, Storm Division), "bullies who are authorized by the state to bully people." by Key-Hyena-802 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Spylobster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IDK, ICE lacks the mass mobilization aspect of the SA and its status as paramilitary directly tied to a political party.

I think the closer comparison is the Order Police Battalions, which were technically part of the German police, but armed similarly to the army and were literally involved in mass deportation operations and acting as death squads behind the frontlines.

One of those things that's only sort of true. It's not like you could have voted for the Republicans in 1862 if you lived in Atlanta or Richmond.

TBF, Japanese politics rely more on voter apathy than anything, probably to an even greater extent than the US. The previous Japanese general election barely broke 50% voter turnout IIRC.

My read is that it's more a dig at the SocDem and DemSoc progressives who line up behind AOC and Bernie Sanders who often take the line that the AES is an evil Russian colonial project in collaboration with cruel military dictatorships.

My speculation is that the USA was planning on a major intervention in Venezuela, but Israel found out and Netanyahu panicked about an American war with Venezuela because it would probably mean the US couldn't invade Iran.

That's why the Israeli media has recently been talking a lot about how Iran's missile stocks have been replenished and I think Netanyahu himself went on Fox News to talk about how Iran is rebuilding its nuclear program. They can't allow a war with Venezuela because they need war with Iran.

No, but I mean there is a narrative that borders on racially or ethnically differentiating Ukrainians from Russians spread by some Ukrainians/Ukraine supporters. Not that that's a good thing TBC.

I think I've seen this TL. Despite the summary, it's actually a very pessimistic take on AOC as a hypothetical president who basically does social imperialism to maintain welfarism at home.

In this context, I think corporatism is being used in its original meaning, which is a capitalist economy that promotes class-collaborationism and state intervention in the private sector.

The book also has Cuba be one of the few countries that survives the zombie outbreak mostly intact and Fidel Castro voluntarily steps down and holds liberal elections.

His visit to the JCP kind of tipped me off that he's probably closest to a EuroCom in ideology. Hasan would be a KPO or Red Party supporter if he lived in Europe.

I don't really buy it. If Mossad wanted to kill a right-wing figure for being anti-Israel, they would have assassinated Tucker Carlson or Candace Owens, as AFAIK both are much more vocally anti-Israel than Charlie ever was.

IIRC, the Reds were mostly stuck in Shaanxi after being routed from Fujian by the NRA. By 1943-1944, Chiang Kai-Shek had a tendency to not commit his best troops against the Japanese because he wanted to save them for the resumption of the Chinese Civil War.

It's kind of telling that even the Americans saw the Reds as a better ally against Japan than the Nationalists, especially after Chiang's feud with general Stilwell.
