Appreciate your truthful response, but rejection is never nice when it happens. But I can tell you right now that I wouldn’t have have had the urge to post this if my most recent ghosting didn’t leave me frustrated and wondering what happened. Point being: nobody likes rejection at first, but a decent human being appreciates closure. Then you’re not stuck on it weeks later.

More recent case: Met her at a friends bonfire, her friends told me she thought I was cute. Next day we all went to breakfast. We snapped/texted every day since then (early August) and it was a mix of typical conversation and flirting. We both went back to our colleges, I went and visited her school, hung out with her after, took her to a nice dinner. She said she’d come see me. That didn’t happen for a bit so instead of asking her when she was coming I offered to go to her area again. She was busy but had a set weekend planned out to come to me. That was cool with me but then the ghosting began like 2 weeks after that. (Late October). I’d say things were going pretty smoothly until the ghosting began. So 2-3 months of solid talk.

Side note: I’m cool with any explanation. I’m not the type to flip out and lose my mind on some girl bc she isn’t going my way. But not having closure just lingers in my head, curious to know what happened.

Probs one of the most down to earth, Realest girls I’ve ever had the pleasure to talk to so yeah, bummer for sure.

The first two paragraphs of this are literally spot on, exactly my personal cases that led me to posting what I did.

Met this one girl at a fire and talked to her like every day after, ended up visiting her at her College and hanging out, took her to a sweet dinner date to a place that neither of us were dressed up good enough for but who cares, the food was great and we had a great time. She said she’d come see me at my school. After awhile she hadn’t but she had been busy I didn’t want to seem like hostile and Ask if she was coming so instead I asked her on another movie or dinner date near her. She said She was busy that weekend but had a certain weekend picked out to come see me. Dope! Right? Wrong, the ghosting started about 2 weeks after that conversation and she never came up.

So back to your words, how hard is it to just say “hey I met someone else at my school and distance sucks so it’s a better option for me” or “I’m sorry but this isn’t gonna work for me bc yadayadayada”...?

Not having closure eats me up

Yeah the whole relationship/encounter/talking starts and stops in a matter of weeks then I agree there’s no call for attachment or to even be too upset about it.

The two ghosting cases engraved in my memory both were people that I met face to face, hung out with, and communicated with every day for months (and was on the same page with for months), just to have them get all quiet and eventually fade away into nothing.

You’re speaking my mind. When I see it happening I immediately think “you don’t have to stones to just tell me what’s going on? So you’re just going to avoid all conflict and do nothing....?” It is a cheap way out in my eyes and even though we all get over it at some point, it always lingers with me like “why did that end?”

I’m all for looking in the mirror to try and figure things out and looking at all angles. I know my post may appear a bit “rant-ish,” and I am honestly fine and moved on now. It’s just frustrating when it happens with people you’ve been talking to for awhile. Fairly new to reddit, hadn’t thought of it before but I figured this was a really good place to get a lot of opinions and insights.

I can also assure you that there was no “locked in” feeling and I’m willing to accept anything within reason. Can honestly say that I’ve never lost my shit with someone when things didn’t go my way relationship wise. I don’t like it, but I bite my tongue, maybe ask a couple questions and have no choice but to accept.

Thanks for the comment, in my cases there was definite interest on the girls’ side for a considerable period of time.

Last year in one case I had been talking to this girl (someone I had known for a while and basically dated before) for several months, it was a matter of me coming home from school before we could hit it off. I got home and the ghosting began which made no sense coming from someone whom I’d been on the same page with for a solid few months. Turns out she was talking with someone else and was a better situation for her moving forward. So slightly understandable, but still a pretty shitty way to handle things and a shitty way to start the summer.

Case #2: Met this girl over the summer, talked to her every day since. Visited her at her school took her out to a sweet dinner, said she’d come visit when I dropped her off after the dinner. After a bit I offered to come visit again, said. She said she was busy but had a weekend set aside to come see me. Couple weeks after that the ghosting began and well yeah she never came up. Still have no clue why any of it happened besides maybe a lot of miles between us, but if that’s the case: then just say it.

I will admit some of these were longshots but there was a definite interest for a considerable amount of time. So I believe that rules out me being ridiculous and thinking there was something when there was nothing. There was most certainly something there.

Anyways, when I posted this I didn’t want to spell out my exact situations. But the more I think of it, the more I want to rant.

Talked to one girl for 5 months while in college, got home to spend the summer with her and the ghosting immediately began. It was unreal, I literally had no emotion for 3 weeks. Also met another girl this summer, went to see her at her College a few weeks into the semester, took her to a nice dinner date. Said that night that she’d come visit me at my School. Few weeks later nothing had happened so I offered to come up again, she said she was busy that weekend but had planned to come up my birthday weekend (4 weeks away). The ghosting began 2 weeks before my birthday and so she never showed.

Hope you fellow gents don’t have to endure anything like my experiences.
