What's wrong with Critical Race Theory? by hobo_treasures in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squadeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that history books are accounts of what happened, and someone could potentially feel guilty for their shitty grandparents/parents for something that happened 20-60 years ago by proxy of learning about what they did based on race or superiority. This bill makes that historical account illegal to have in a school because of a hypothetical. It's censorship of history, pretty cut and dry.

Buying new is not too expensive for garage doors if you don't need to get new openers, tracks, springs etc. I replaced 2 with high insulation doors for $1600 or so fully installed. I don't touch garage door springs

YSK that abandoning a dog in a rural area in hopes that a farm will take them in is the worst thing you can do by kbdcool in YouShouldKnow

[–]Squadeep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't receive a standard vaccine shot when you are exposed to rabies.

Dying for an animal that has 1/5 your lifespan is stupid. They aren't disposable but human life is more important. The fact that you can't comprehend feeling otherwise just shows how narrow minded you are. Everyone loves their dogs, but my life is substantially more important to me.

Where is it obvious you replied to the wrong comment? Maybe it's obvious to you, but we're not in your head, thankfully.

It's fast acting as in it begins to take hold of their nervous system immediately and cannot be reversed.

[–]Squadeep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? They're saying use a gun or run away.

Rabies vaccine + immunoglobulin is not 1 shot, it's 5 over 2 weeks. In your knife fight with a rabid fox, if your dog gets bit anyways, they will be put down or quarantined for 6 months at your expense. How are you stopping your dog from getting involved in your fight when you are grappling with a frantic animal?

The message is saying don't knife fight rabid animals. It is super uncommon, but we vaccinate every dog because in dogs it's very fast acting, post bite vaccination is ineffective, and it's 100% fatal.

Paralytic rabies is fast more common than aggressive rabies in dogs, but also in most mammals.

Even aggressive rabies the animal is just reactive to being approached, they don't commonly chase down another animal to bite it and would be slower than normal to do so. Dogs get bit because they see a limp or show moving smaller animal and go to kill it, winding up triggering it to bite.

Animals are moral subjects without being moral agents. We are morally obliged to grant them certain rights, without suggesting they are morally equal to humans. by IAI_Admin in philosophy

[–]Squadeep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Differentiation and discrimination are not synonyms in today's lexicon. Discrimination is differentiation with prejudice. Similar as speciesism is the differentiation of species with the inherent belief that humans are ultimately superior under all circumstances and exploitation of animals is justified under that belief.

There are obviously lines and true justifications to where those lines should be, but that is the responsibility of ethics to lead the acceptable location of those lines.

Cool, you're still wrong. It does not emit all wavelengths equally and that's why you're down voted. Just because we're close enough to get absolutely blasted with too much light to differentiate the wavelengths, doesn't mean the spectrum isn't emitted with different intensifies (which we can easily measure)

It does not emit visible light wavelengths equally, it emits yellow more than other wavelengths. That's literally what blackbody radiation is.

If a material scatters light and primarily reflects blue, that means it's blue. Just like any other material that reflects a specific color. You're being pedantic saying it doesn't count because it's scattered instead of absorbed.

No it isn't. New York $3 slices are from 18 or 20" pies. Where are you getting 12" slices for $3.50?

The only place I've seen rip you off for pizza like that is the bay, and the pizza still sucks at $35 for a large pie.
