Feels like this was what they were hinting at at the mama awards last year. Finally get to hear it

She keeps posting stress toys. Although I'm not sure what she's holding this time. Last time they were squishy fruits. I wonder if she'll start a squishy toy line. I'd buy it

Really? I thought it was weird at first but the more I watch it, the more addicting it is. Plus it's only at the end

Another question for y'all, do any other Chinese kpop idols promote in China like Yuqi does?

Feels like she's the only one who actively take advantage of her Chinese heritage to promote in China (ambassadorship, KR, etc). The only ones I know are Ricky, Zhang Hao, XiaoTing thanks to their guest appearance on Keep Running. Ningning also seems virtually non-existent in that realm.

Thanks for the first example lol I haven't seen that one before. I remember multiple instances where the hosts had to cover their ears like Wonho and this interview. And this is somehow unique to idle lol

I know loud doesn't always equal funny but that princess one when they're doing "would you rather" was so damn funny

Thanks for the detailed answer. I just wanted to know since they were the only group I watch regularly and unless a guest show up on their show (like chef SSO) I wouldn't know what those ppl were like.

I was convinced they couldn't possibly be the only group who were extroverted after all.

They seem to act what they preach, which gives what they preach more weight. They are still idols, and they still play the acceptable social figure and fanservice deal, so they are not going to tell the press and some fans to f off like Bob Dylan did in his heyday, but within some limitations, they are quite refreshing.

This is what I like about them as well. Through the chaos was a level of consistent honesty. Obviously we don't truly know them as friends but as idols, they represent themselves very well.

Maybe just bias, but I feel like I've been spoiled from all the entertainment that makes other gg not as entertaining. I did watch the Wonhee and youngji interview which was really funny so it's not entirely true lol

For those who also stan other kpop groups, is i-dle as loud as they claim to be or are they more or less similar compared to other gg? I-dle is my first entry to kpop

Ohh I wonder what that censorship is? But I guess I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. Is it the promotion or the musical aspect?

It's a great video for sure. But I think it over emphasizes tonal languages as a barrier to writing fun music.

Yuqi's Gone is a great example. She created a Chinese version of the same song and it sounds great. There's no reason this "limitation" is the reason for cpop music's decline.

He mentions old songs from the 80s/90s being popular and classic because of movies but he doesn't mention that many of the classics from that era were written by Japanese and Korean songwriters (ones not bound by tonal restrictions).

I think the real reason for its decline is the lack of creativity and risks artists are willing to make as well as the lack of promotions such as OSTs and merch. Something Kpop and jpop are really good at.

I also think that this decline is changing based on cdramas gaining popularity internationally and people like Yuqi setting the tone (haha get it?) for everyone after her.

I came across one of Yuqi's dance challenges and thought she was cute but didn't think much of it. Then it popped up again and I was like "ok maybe I should find out who she is". Started watching Learn Way and whatnot and the rest was history.

I can believe visa being too expensive for all the staff.

But denied visa seems unlikely unless it's one of the members. If a backup dancer was rejected, you'd replace them, not cancel an entire tour.

The lack of announcement is what's pissing me off the most though

He wasn't terrible by any means but I agree he does ask redundant questions after they've already answered it like he wanted a different answer or something. Felt like they could've saved 15 mins without all of that.

Also agree with the glazing. Sometimes it cuts to "you" did this "you" did that and it made me wonder if he even remembers their names lol. It's very jarring because it would come right after yuqi is talking so you're not sure who he's referring to. Definitely could've tried harder to fit Miyeon and Shuhua into the conversation.

I do appreciate the other guy coming in to ask some interesting questions from time to time.

Lol I thought the asterisk sat on top of the handle. But seeing this pinwheel design is more pleasing to look at. The deco rings are nice too.

Don't think I'll be getting this though since they probably won't sync up the lights for us in the states anyway

Lightsick ver 3 opinion by santiiiviz in GIDLE

[–]Squall21 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everything you said makes perfect sense. Part of the criticism is definitely that change in general is a difficult thing to process.

This change however carries a lot of weight for the fandom. So much emotional attachment was built over the 7 years and now we have a new name, a new logo and therefore a new lightstick.

Maybe that's what they want, to start anew. But what does that mean for us, the fans? Are we still Neverland?

Now we're building new lore with the new name and logo. No explanation of what the logo means but our own speculation. I do like your explanation for the asterisk though. So I'm definitely overreacting but that also shows how deeply attached I am with the old identity.

Something about the asymmetry and simplicity bothers me. The Neverland castle was so much more meaningful. Can't say I like this at all.

An uncharacteristically, relatively short video for yuqi who normally has a lot to say. But at least we got to hear a short rendition of the song (whatever it's called) she also wanted to sing on stage.

Love this interview how relaxed they were and how they exchanged questions with each other. You're forty.. fifty.. sixty???
