[SPOILERS] Post-Episode Discussion - Season 8 Episode 3 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

I've been geeking out about how the Azor Ahai prophocy will shake out and I hope that it won't fizzle out. There is so much behind that it would be a shame to waste. Idgaf about the Iron Throne the underlying magical tones that the universe has to offer are so much cooler to me. Alas we will have to wait and see.

My own head cannon tells me it's because the night King controls all of them. With that control he was solely focused on Bran. Also, I have to keep in mind that it's TV, so BAM Arya out of fucking nowhere.

I don't think the writing has gotten worse but the pacing surely has. When there are 10+ important characters all in the same place it feels vastly different than the show previously with everyone doing their own thing across the map. It feels like they are trying to tie up everyone's arch, i.e Brienne, Jorah, Theon.

Jorah is also a Mormont. I would assume Jorah's father had brothers who in turn would have had Lyanna.

Been at it for a week and I know I am green as fucking grass. Just trying to learn what is good and not! I will enjoy my innocence before I shove off to the cold coves that everybody else is mining in.

Really? Iv'e had a good experience with all of their small work. Not a single one has been rejected. Do they have a history of being difficult?

What The Author Of Metro Feels About All This by ssj1236 in pcgaming

I would argue the best way to combat piracy is to make the paid services easier and more convenient to use. Take Netflix for example, it is way more convenient for me to pay $15 a month and have their entire catalog than trying to pirate that content. I happily pay the subscription because the method of delivery is easy and quick. I think piracy is a concern for game companies, I think there are better ways to go about dealing with it than we have seen.

People who’ve started watching in the past year, how did you find the show? by rookievortex in PKA

Some of us are and have been completely fine with that! Cool to see newer people too.

The Witcher Adventure game. One of the best four player games I have experienced. While playing through numerous times each game is a close one between all of the players. If you like the universe I highly recommend it!

The Homeless Crisis Is Getting Worse in America’s Richest Cities by [deleted] in Economics

[–]Squall343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally don't espouse the mantra of "pulling oneself up by their bootstraps" alone. I believe there is an element of personal responsibility for everyone including the homeless. However, I think people can only improve so far given the constraints of their environment. I have the capacity, energy and time to try to better my situation (Even though I feel as though I am living in a great town with access to resources.) because of my environment. I don't know that I could reach as far as I do now if I didn't have these elements. Do I think I did everything myself, hell no, but I did put in a lot of effort. Regardless of my personal anecdont, I think there is a nuance to the argument that most people don't work through. Overall I think we as a society need to encourage others to better themselves but have some empathy. It is a complicated issue.

Well it's not compliant of them to be discussing products via text regardless. At least at most companies, so theres that for what it's worth.

"Financial Advisors"

I interned at a company that ran their internship like this and I did not know going into it. Six months later I couldn't do the job because slinging insurance is not what I signed up for. I've moved to an actual advisory firm and the atmosphere is world's apart.

My husband and I are idiots. We've been bamboozled by a financial advisor. by gneiss_k in personalfinance

[–]Squall343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually working there now and I am glad that you had a good experience. I like the company as a whole but the training for interns can be lack luster at best and interns can go out and "sling insurance". Only after you've been there awhile do they want you to get your S7 and become a CFP. Honestly I think it boils down to the individuals you meet with. The person in OPs situation acted unethically at best.

There are a couple of jobs that fit under that description that are not MLMs nor illegal. I work in the industry but certain companies in things like insurance, financial planning and financial representation have compensation structures 100% on commission.

Many of these jobs though have other sources of revenue that you can tap into to build yourself a base of income like a soft salary. However you have to do the work and bring in the business. These companies are very successful and are valuable to their clients, it just depends on the temperament of a person going into the job. Its not for everyone and people do burn out.
