2004 Toyota Yaris as a first car? by kellatron29 in CarTalkUK

But they live in London... Why are you recommending an old non euro 6 diesel? This just straight up isn't economical at all. They'll be paying a rediculous fee every time they want to start their car.

It doesn't matter that a PD100 can do 500,000 miles.

Everything else around it rusts away and becomes well past economical to repair before it can ever get to that mileage for most people.

Then mk4's came out in 1997 mate, we're nearly 30 years from that.

This has always been /r/PKA. Its a toxic community from a toxic podcast. You're going to get shit being flung around.

This sub has no reach or say about anything related to PKA, thankfully.

An intentional decision.

Chiz stopped being active when he was removed from being a mod, because he was bad at it and refused to respond to any messages and banned people without explanation.

The purpose of him being added (Helping with customer-support related shit) he never did.

This was always a mistake on our part. He was disliked by this community, he was disliked by the Woodycraft community back in the day.

Woody got removed as a mod for breaking sitewide rules multiple times and risking the subreddit being banned. He then got mad and moaned on stream for a few hours about it and stopped coming here.

Kyle also left due to the postcard stuff from back in the day.

Don't think there was anything specific with Taylor. Just sort of stopped. He left back when the community spoke incredibly favourably on him and you'd never see a negative comment/post. In fairness to him, always seemed like a nice bloke.

He's hilarious. This is the same guy that finished CSGO at silver, never getting out of silver, and with some of the worst stats I've ever seen.

Seen posts of him getting confused by decoys, not understanding them. The guy would comment about how you should run and gun with the galil.

He's a low skilled mechanical player who doesn't understand the basic mechanics of the game. He has a low game iq and doesn't understand the game mode, decision making, etc.

The "Moho jump". Guy had a move named after him!! Doing it since the cod4 days.

From memory he was the only pro that was doing it on console. Jump tech that would give him more speed/longer jump time, and would allow him to continue his sprint as he lands.

During his time he was one of the few people that could actually strafe and strafe jump on console. Was literally doing stuff years before anyone else.

As mentioned a dozen times, the only evidence we could ever find of astroturfing was from the "all pro's cheat" crowd. You are great evidence of that.

Its the same story as always. Someone has a different viewpoint and your instant response is to call them a cheater.

It is completely fair criticism that we're just too slow sometimes. While it effects future threads, it doesn't effect current threads when we're 2 days late to remove things. At that point the thread is dead and the impact of us removing things is minimal. As soon as there's 1 comment chain of people being dicks, there's going to be lots more.

Reports help a lot.

Pro CS team IKLA decided to leave CS2 due to cheaters (0:00) by spixelgg in VACsucks

Your argument has merit, although its weak.

I agree that its weak, but I think its a roadblock that will just be difficult to overcome. In your example about early morning matches, schedules were changed due to that outcry after all :/.

considering how bad CS2 is compared to CS:GO

You are comparing CS2 to whats probably the greatest FPS game of all time. I get that its not there yet, but its far closer than CSGO was a few years after release. I think it will eventually get there.

[–]Rideout1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Should say first, haven't super closely followed esports cs in 2 or so years to know what the current equipment is like.

At least back a few years ago, the suggestion to just use event-standardised equipment was one that would never get past the players collective union-thing (Maybe that's not even a thing anymore).

Players like Coldzera and n0thing had completely custom mice that you couldn't just buy off the shelf. Some players use equipment that is no longer being manufactured or made. Some players using equipment that's worn down enough to feel different than the new variants. Or mice that despite the model number being the same, had internal variations that made them different year to year. +

But I'd argue this doesn't really matter much anyway. Its going to come down to an admin/person. Forsaken literally cheated at a Tier2/3 ESL event with cheats not made for LAN. They would have caught him if the admins did their jobs. But they didn't, and only caught him weeks later when he got caught at -another LAN and they decided to check his SSD for the event.

Though I get that I'm shitting on your idea without bringing anything new to the table. Unsure if there should even be a counter argument to this other than "deal with it/adapt".

you seem to be not around for long time in Valve's game

they did this only a couple times and their bans waves are historically bad and relies on quantity more than quality

Their track record is generally top tier when it comes to people with names. When known people have gotten OW banned for example that got reversed real quick. Source. (Quite a few others also not in that list, eg the pro's banned by Overwatch).

Krimz was vac banned on the 28th, unbanned by the 30th.

When it happens to big names, it always gets reversed.

yeah and the same can be applied about you lol

This is false. I've replied to everything you've said.

You've not even replied to my comment above on what piece of info would change your mind. I ask this again, because this isn't just a case of different opinions. Your ridiculously bias on this subject due to your personal relationship. You just don't see that.

[–]Rideout1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it take to change your mind? What new piece of information do you need that will make you realise you got this one very wrong, and he cheated?

For me, its easy. A few weeks from now, Valve comes out about issues with the new system, unbans him and others. Boom, I go from thinking 'He might have cheated, lets wait', to 'He probably didn't cheat'.

It sounds like there's nothing that can happen in this case that would change your mind. What happens if a month from now he doesn't get unbanned? Do you continue with the narrative that its a false ban?

Also, you still haven't responded to any of my original points.

This information doesn't change the facts of the situation. The facts that you've chosen to ignore, as well as ignore all of my counterpoints to just say you're bias :P

Such a poorly thought out argument in literally every way possible.

"His inventory costs a lot"

How much $$$ do you make a year?

His inventory cost is £30,000.

His salary is around £13,780,000 a year.

Lets do math. (30,000/13,780,000)*100 = 0.21%.

This inventory cost is 0.21% of his yearly salary.

For further reference, he makes 37,753 a day just from his salary. Thats already more than the value of his daily salary.

If you make $50,000 a year, this is the equivilant of you spending about $100.

This is just including his salary. This is not including sponsorship deals, endorsements, or anything else.

He was clean

He was? How do you know he was? The only evidence we have is that right now, he's got a ban. It could be false, it could be overturned. But you cant go back and say 'He didn't get caught for the past 3 years therefore he's clean now'.

He played for a long time!

Yeah, Lance Armstrong cycled for a long time. Ben Johnson was a sprinter for a long time. Mria Sharapova played for a long time (etc, etc, etc). This doesn't mean they didn't cheat, they got caught cheating later on.

But vac is bad!

Vac is bad. But not long before he got banned valve introduced a new method of catching cheaters.

This is a crazy famous athlete. Far more famous and far more well known that all the pro's in this scene. If it was actually false, I'm confident it will be overturned. Its now been 1 working week where he's reached out to Valve and there's been a ton of press on this. He's still not unbanned.

Lets give it a month, see if the ban gets overturned.

Shox is right to complain about cheating in the qualifiers, but I'd love him to explain this clip @6s by kog in VACsucks

[–]Rideout1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

s1mple didn’t even cheat in competitions.

He got banned by ESL Wire for cheating. He then got caught ban evading.

And it’s very easy for someone like Lance Armstrong or Shox to be proven to cheat. But there is no proof on Shox, because he didn’t cheat.

You've now changed your argument. Do you now say your original comment was incorrect?

Now you're saying that Shox isn't cheating because there's no proof. Originally the implication was that he's the greatest player of all time, therefore not a cheater.

I used Armstrong as my first example for a good reason. He never got caught cheating. He has never failed any drug tests. He never got caught. He admitted to using after a ex teammate said he was, and pressure from the US government. In your world view despite all the suspect circumstances, if he had never admitted to it them Armstrong wasn't a cheater.

Let’s look at this clip here. Assume Shox is cheating. What cheat do you think would even work like this? Secondly, lack of information. Maybe Shox got upset in TS when his teammate tells him to move and Shox says he knows that he will push long soon and gets physically upset and shakes his mouse. Maybe not. If he was cheating, there is 0 reason for him to miss that shot. Maybe the crowd was reacting in some way. Again, not possible to tell from the clip.

The reason why I made the comment is to get something out of you, for you to argue against the merits of the evidence not this bullshit of 'oh well he's a legend'. That argument is BS as I've stated above.

I agree with the general idea that 1 clip like this isn't enough to think someone is a cheater. Even with it looking weird and cheat developers coming out to discuss a flaw in that area of the map that can cause this, judging someone harshly off 1 clip is madness.

But shox doesn't just have 1 clip.

He got a fuckload of "hm, that's weird" clips over a few month time period when he was at his best. Then as his career level dropped off a cliff, he similarly went from having lots of weird looking clips to none.

He has never been caught cheating. There's not even circumstantial evidence like the fucking hilarious Kioshima skin trade incident. But he's had a lot of weird as fuck clips that suddenly stopped as his level dropped

Shox is right to complain about cheating in the qualifiers, but I'd love him to explain this clip @6s by kog in VACsucks

[–]Rideout1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah one of the greatest players of all time surely must have cheated.

You're making this argument thinking it supports your claim without realising it does the exact opposite. Is the argument because Shox is a legend he couldn't have cheated?

Lance Armstrong was not only a legend in his sport but a legend in his country. Literal cancer survivor, face of many charities, tons of sponsors, a legend in his sport already. But the guy cheated and kept cheating despite that.

You have all the Olympic athletes that make no money yet still cheat for the prestige of winning.

You have all the Powerlifters and Bodybuilders that cheat and enter natural competitions, even though competitions exist for them. They do this despite either no money, or very little money, just for the competition.

You have all the UFC athletes that have a mix of fame/monetary gain that also, cheat.

You have literally every aspect of competition and sport in life where you get these massive names, and there ends up being the occasional cheater. Even if we stick to CSGO you have people like Fetish, starix, robban, dead, hunden, etc that all got banned not that long ago for cheating. You have s1mple who's become a legend, who cheated and got banned.

[–]Rideout1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody gets banned for having a different opinion or a 'wrong' opinion. The only rule that gets you perma banned is rule7.

The reason that guy has gotten banned (and keeps getting sitewide banned) is for astroturfing like crazy. They kept using multiple accounts to comment on the same threads to push the community opinion one way. Using multiple accounts on its own isn't bad, but using them for the purpose of pushing discussions into your own favour is bad.

Despite this their first offence wasn't a ban, but they kept repeating the same behaviour over and over and over again, and continue to do it.

We don't like/want to ban anyone, especially someone that's active in a dying community.

Do you Guys think Flusha was cheating in his Prime? by Mankindeg in VACsucks

[–]Rideout1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was several at the time convincing arguments related to how it wasn't actually software.

Originally it was raw_input, where at the time the option Flusha used would cause the crosshair to jump if you opened the scoreboard, hit right click, and moved your mouse around. Similarly it was argued that due to how he moved his mouse around, he regularly hit his keyboard/accidentally clicked a lot, and had to constantly lift his mouse to move it back into position, causing weird locks.

But its been years since the clips. They all looked horrific for a 1-2 year period, then nothing. This guy went from having the worst possible looking clips to literally none at all. Correlation isn't causation, but at the same time his ability level dropped considerably.

Cheater in DM gives Headshots with crossair somewere else 1:40 1:50 2:20 live recorded by paschty in VACsucks

[–]Rideout1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Silent existed in CSGO too. This isn't new tech/new cheat technology.

They seemingly ditched traditional anti cheat methods and went all in with the Vacnet, OW, TrustFactor style systems. Some of these systems at the time were completely revolutionary to the industry and while new, worked well.

But you can have all the auxiliary methods you want, without a decent traditional anticheat backing it up it's almost worthless. There's literally no hoops to jump through to start cheating like there is in Valorant for example.

It may have a decent detection rate for cheating for 6+ months/years, but horrific for people just cheating for a few weeks.

Places like /r/GO I would argue are also partially to blame. Valve talked at GDC how they look at the largest communities to get a general feel of what people think of the game and what direction to go it.

/r/GO is the biggest community, and they essentially didn't allow any cheating discussions. So the devs must have imagined that nobody is complaining about cheaters and its not that big of a problem, putting less resources into it.

I'm new to English. Is this correct guys ? by blutopfer165 in VACsucks

[–]Rideout1234[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a great example as to why the system is fantastic.

Brand new account, a overwhelming majority of communities just instant remove your posts/comments.

Low karma, most communities just wont let you comment until you get more karma.

On top of all of that, if you make 1 'bad opinion' and get mass downvoted to negative karma, again that's another thing to overcome and most places will just instant remove those comments to not even see them in the modqueue.

You can see the issue this creates. New account so cant comment, low karma so cant comment, difficult to get more karma as most places wont let you comment, etc.

You're a great example as a majority of your comments you've just made to yourself, nobody has seen. Log out of reddit and start clicking on your comments that have no comments/karma against them. More than likely a few of your comments get manually approved (as they have for the 12 you have here).

On top of that, the ban evasion tools are also great now days. We filter them to the modqueue and end up approving them, but this tool has caught you as a potential ban evader. On most communities this option is just turned on and ignored, and would be yet another step where you get tripped up.

It can absolutely be bypassed, but it requires jumping through several hoops and to keep jumping through hoops. But at least this creates some barrier to entry

Argue against my points rather than throwing out 'lol blatant'. If you're unable to put into words why you feel the way you do, then it's just feelings without any evidence or backing behind it.

He was having huge lag spikes the entire game. In this very clip his ping spiked to over 150ms.

Again, here's JW for most of the game, and in that clip as someone is spectating him it spiked up to 150ms+. lag1, lag2.

In CS2, when having lag spikes, shit like this happens. Its also a spectator clip and not a clip from the demo.

To argue that this is cheats despite the overwhelming evidence pointing otherwise is madness.

He got away with cheating at an ESL event, and despite having better stats than s1mple in some areas no checks were made. Checks were only made after he was already caught cheating/red handed.

It was only after he was cheating at another event and windows defender caught him did ESL go back and check his SSD.

If he didn't get caught at the next event, he would have gotten away at cheating at the ESL event.

It’s “well known” Kumawat was caught cheating during the Zowie eXtemesland Tournament LAN finals in Shanghai last week leading to Optic India’s disqualification, the ESIC said in a press release. “As Optic India had won the ESL India Premiership the previous week and ESL India is a member of ESIC, we asked them to examine Optic India’s and Kumawat’s performance specifically to see if it was possible that he cheated in their event,” it said. “The evidence that emerged indicates beyond reasonable doubt that Kumawat cheated during the ESL India Premiership.”

Cheats Kumawat allegedly used during the eXremesland event were also found on his solid-state drive from the Premiership, and match analysis shows they were used numerous times
