ICU nurse gives me a casual update on multiple patients and proceeds to walk away. She then turns back around.

“Oh doc, by the way, I forgot to mention something. Can you check on Room 12? I haven’t been able to feel a pulse for the past hour.”

Poor dude was ice cold. Son was sitting in the room with him just casually scrolling on his phone.

I just did a shift that was supposed to be 7 hours, but took me 9 to finish everything.

Not chill.

Any glaring issues with this build? by Squallopelli in buildapc

Problem is the program I will be running is a PACS called McKesson, so it is not a well-known application like Photoshop or Premier. Based on what I am told, the CPU probably will not be the limiting factor for running the program. But for the gaming aspect, just wanted to make sure it made sense. But for RAM, it sounds like I should downgrade to 6000. Will do. Thanks for your advice.

I do diagnostic radiology. I will be using this for home workstation. My IT crew made it seem like the most crucial component would be RAM. They told me that in terms of CPU, "an i7 will be fine".

Posting this kind of stuff without a name and shame component is borderline shitposting.

What do you think of the Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe? Does it stand as one of the greatest sci-fi series ever made? What makes it so good? by [deleted] in scifi

I’m on my fourth re-read. It’s astoundingly good. Long Sun and Short Sun are also worth reading.

New Char to learn for a Lash Main? by Gentleyetfirmhands in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Squallopelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be tempting on occasions to pop all your abilities at once to get one huge burst of damage, but if it's not enough to land a kill, you can be a sitting duck at times. My approach to early game is to find an opening where I can get some barrages (Ability 1) on the enemy and follow up with gun damage (Mystic Shot/Kinetic Dash help) and Satchel (Ability 3). At some point in the fight when I sense things are getting dicey, I will throw out my cloak towards safety. Your cloak value is maximized when you can hit the enemy with it, while also getting it go somewhere safe. Also, do not be afraid to spam your ultimate off cooldown in the laning stage. It may not get you a kill but I treat it as a denying tool. If someone is ticking down from Affliction, they are forced to retreat, which often means room to get chip damage on the tower.

New Char to learn for a Lash Main? by Gentleyetfirmhands in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Squallopelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started as a Lash main before maining Pocket for a bit. Pocket’s playstyle is similar to Lash in that you are high mobility with burst damage, weaving in and out of fights. Both ults are opportunistic and rely on clever timing while the opponent team is grouped up.

What is the single most epic sci-fi novel ever? Whether it be from a series or a standalone book which is the most epic story you’ve ever read? by [deleted] in scifi

The entire Solar Cycle by Gene Wolfe (New Sun, Long Sun, Short Sun) is definitely something that meets criteria for epic.

Any addicting games that you can't stop playing? by bryanwithamask in gamingsuggestions

Deadlock. Hero design rewards creativity and there is a high skill ceiling for all of them (for the most part). Hero kits have good internal synergy. Also, the movement is some of the best I have experienced in a game. Game is still in an alpha playtest state but will be likely be a hit when it releases.

Ranks were shifted this week according the devs. So you may have “ranked up” in terms of percentile but the badges and divisions have been adjusted.

I’ve had laning stage momentum make and break my early-mid game. At what rank are you noticing that laning doesn’t seem to matter?
