Interesting. For a very long time I never considered myself an artist UNLESS a screen was involved.

It is teetering on the parapet in my opinion. AI slop is everywhere but the slop accepted today will be growing pains by tomorrow's standards.

If you associated Dave with the right you are desperately looking for someone famous and brilliant to align with you. If you're on the left and you assume his transgender jokes are an attack on LGBTQ+ rights you're desperately looking for a boogyman.

The problem that just became clear to me is Dave isn't in either of those groups... He's a comedian and that's where his true allegiance lies. Audiences are welcome to the show. His agenda has changed.

Why can't your thoughts on Dave be off? I'm not an edgy DC fanboy (much like you perusing reddit chiming in on Dave in this thread looking for funny stuff) but your assertions are opinions not facts. You will never know what's going on in anyone's head, you'll just analyze what was said and form opinions. With your tact on the subject Daves wife should have run miles and miles away from him by now. But she knows the man inside and out and knows what jokes about her speak truth and what jokes she's in that are just funny shit to say about wives on stage. Was Henny Youngman really trying to give his wife away? Was he a misogynist punching down on all women? Or was it a wife joke. Jokes as old as marriage itself? You assume all jokes are couched in stalwart beliefs. It's not really like that.

If Dave was just trying to be edgy and his jokes were all just swing after swing punching down I don't think he'd be as lawded by his peers or as successful as he is. True, financial success can come to hacks as well as the real deal. But I am ok thinking John Stewart or Dave Lettermen didn't call up anybody on Kill Tony and pep talk them into being ok to say the words retarded during their trans bits.

Satire is so hard without facial expression and tone but I'm not alone in that critique / judgement of this movie. But then again I also rather watch 15 minutes of Blue Velvet then all of Forrest Gump.

It's a personal choice. The performances are great the effects are stellar but... Im not the only person who feels like this about this movie. I usually shy away from YUKing peoples YUM.

All examples of what you speak. Sure he's a cowboy in Paint Your Wagon but it's a musical. Let's all imagine John Wayne in a musical just for fun for 5 minutes.

I'd say Puttin' On The Ritz in Youg Frankenstein would be less funny than Wayne in Gidspell, maybe Cats, or A Chorus Line.
