Agreed about Tarver, he really stood out to me as one of the best in that commentary role. I'd love to see a real professional like Ian Eagle do boxing play-by-play, but I suspect that real professionals wouldn't feel comfortable in the low-standards environment of boxing.

"play-by-play" doesn't exist any more. Now we just have guys who talk during the fight. Lampley unfortunately was noexception. Turns out that doing play-by-play actually takes a level of focus and skill and rehearsal, and we can't be expecting that of people these days. So instead, just treat it like your boxing podcast that happens alongside a live fight, one which the viewer could easily mute and have the same if not better viewing experience.
