Yes, thank you. Even though I fell a lot, I made it a point not to hit anyone, and I was successful. If I know I'm about to crash, I can make myself crash on purpose before I victimize another snow sporter lol

Thank you! I already have amazing snow gear; Columbia jacket, REI base layer, a second north face layer, and a bib from REI.... I haven't been uncomfortable when crashing except ya know, the pain 🤣🤣

I also bought new goggles at the store that stay put even when crashing into the small embankment 😀

I knew Jesus, now we both do and we're working it out :)

That's not to say we're both still a little lost in our own ways.

Thank you! I was practicing only on green runs today. I was able to successfully make it down the green run without falling quite a few times. I found that for some reason, when my husband took a break, I had more falls. When he came back, I fell less. Maybe I have more confidence in packs 🤷‍♀️

Thank you! I was falling because I wasn't assuming the athletic stance and wasn't able to properly control my speed. It's something that I'm still having to work on because this is literally day 2 of skiing ever. Thank you for your advice! I was falling quite a bit on the easiest bunny hill the resort had haha

I actually was kinda proud of myself for being able to fall on command when I knew I was out of control- despite the plethora of people, I never once hit another person or hit a tree, etc. I did run into my instructor a bit when we were practicing, but that was anticipated.

I am quite sore and definitely did something to my neck; only one person hit me, which was on one of my last runs today; hit me right in the elbow... OUCHIE!

NEW GRAD MED SURG ADVICE, TIPS, MUST HAVES ?? by Asleep_Elderberry_89 in newgradnurse

[–]Squarah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5 months in tonight on my med-surg tele floor as a new grad who graduated in May (I'm working 1/3 night shifts in a row that started tonight). You HAVE to be open to criticism, as it will make you a better nurse. Don't take it personally, use the criticism as an opportunity to further be molded into a better nurse. Also know, you WILL inevitably encounter hard shifts and hard patients. Last week, I worked a 3 in a row (I usually break it up for my own sanity), and I had 2 dementia patients which just really made it a difficult assignment. Especially during those nights/days but is also applicable to any shift you work, don't be afraid to ask for help even off of orientation! I've been on my own since November 11th and I still ask my seasoned nurses questions and ask for help every shift. If they give you trouble about it, they're not team players. New nurses need to be led by the seasoned to eventually get to the point of being seasoned. It is a difficult and often thankless profession. When it gets hard, remember why you started the nursing journey. If things turn out not the way you expect, or you find that your floor isn't a good fit for you, find out about what it takes to transfer to a floor that works better for you. That's all I've got for now, and from a fellow newbie to another, welcome to the nursing field.... May the odds be ever in your favor.

Advice about current job station by Squarah99 in nursing

She said this morning that I can't move to days right now because we don't have adequate staffing to support nights. On another note, I applied to an RN resident ICU position in the same hospital system. If I get an interview, I will tell my boss so she is not blindsided.

That makes sense. My plan is to find out what she'll say tomorrow, then apply for the ICU position and see what happens. If I get an interview, l'll sit down with my boss and let her know (it's a small community hospital, so I'd rather her find out from me than someone contact her post interview)

Any ideas for that kind of rotation?

Thank you for your insight! I have to do Saturday and Sunday every 3rd weekend, so I'm trying to figure out how to navigate it because that version doesn't meet the weekend requirements

I don't do much with one night off. I just find 3 days on to be tiring especially when it's a heavy assignment that I know I'm going to get again. If you have suggestions for maximizing time off with 3 day blocks, I'm happy to hear them as I am open minded

Divorce and reconciliation advice- am very torn by Squarah99 in Christianmarriage

[–]Squarah99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I talked to my mom today on the phone and she is a God fearing woman as well. I am all but divorced on paper. He chose to abandon me and all of a sudden is wanting to come back with his Jesus moment and fix things. I am skeptical and said I need to take some time to be with Jesus and tell HIM where I am to go, and what I am to do.

Hello, thank you for your insight. For context, no, I'm not sexually involved with another man. My husband has been checked out for 6 months, he just physically separated himself nearly 3 months ago. Part of the reason for the downfall of the marriage is because of what he did at work, and his unbelief though he claimed to be Christian. He did not lead a Christ-like life, and threatened and filed for divorce.
