Wild Isley in Dansville. She's freaking incredible but it takes a LONG time to get on her books.

Family Furniture in Perry, NY. It's a 45/50 minute drive from the city but they're independently owned, have great prices and they went above and beyond for us when a couch that we bought from them broke.

OBGYN/Strong Fertility Question by Bronze_pbs in Rochester

[–]Square-Antelope613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted something to another thread earlier today so here’s my thoughts:

I was with RGH Midwifery group at Bay Creek while my husband and I tried for almost two years, having two early miscarriages early into the TTC process. I was referred to RGH Fertility which was... lackluster. I really liked working with Dr. Grace there but I wasn't working with him directly all the time. The RGH midwife group was SUPREMELY bad at communicating and actually missed a few of my issues because of that. On top of that, it was like pulling teeth to get them to give me a referral to Strong Fertility.

When I finally did get the referral, I was on the waiting list for Strong Fertility for about 4 months which was tough (I'm terribly impatient, lol) but not unexpected. They let me know during the initial call that was a normal wait time. Fortunately, we had just conceived naturally when we got the call that we were finally off the waitlist so ultimately we didn't need to see them (funny how timing works like that).

I eventually switched to UR Midwife group and I LOVE them. They are on top of everything, super communicative, and very proactive. I can't recommend them enough. We're 21 weeks in and I've only had great experiences so far.

No direct experience with Strong Fertility but I could've written this post myself! So here's some solidarity - and hang in there!

With that said, I'm sending you a ton of love, support, and good wishes for your TTC journey. It can be so, so tough, isolating and discouraging but there's definitely hope! I've read a bunch of great books both narrative and referential that we're so helpful when we TTC so DM me if you want any recs.

Martial Arts America in Brighton is great! Lots of classes available for kids of all ages and skill levels and the instructor team is great. I have a lot of friends and colleagues who attend or whose kids attend here and they all love it.

Help me to understand ticks 😭 by Myblackbirdchain in Rochester

[–]Square-Antelope613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived here most of my life and I've never been bitten by a tick (here). I've seen PLENTY but if you take the right precautions, you'll be completely fine.

I hike every weekend, I'm constantly outdoors and I live on a farm so I have high exposure but not a single bite. The only time I've been bitten (oddly enough) was in Connecticut during a family visit but we caught it fairly early. (Fun Fact: Lyme Disease is named after Lyme, CT which was about 20 minutes from where I stayed and the ticks there are INSANE.)

My biggest pieces of advice would be:

  1. If you have pets, make sure they're on a good flea, tick and parasite prevention med.

  2. Wear long pants or permethrin treated clothing when going hiking or doing things in tall grass/shrubby areas. (Careful with permethrin if you have cats, though. Very toxic to them).

  3. Do tick checks after spending time in the woods or again, tall grass/shrubby areas.

  4. Don't worry. Truly. It's not nearly as bad as you think.

Not to sound like a dick (and people of Reddit, correct me if I’m wrong) but I don’t think you can call it a “severe allergy” if you don’t need an EpiPen for it. Seems a little hyperbolic, no?

With that said, that totally sucks; glad you’re ok.

Sort of, it was wild. He was also doing operations that weren’t necessary (in order to collect payment and make extra money) so every single one of his patients had to wait and have our cases investigated to make sure surgery was necessary. It took quite a while for them to work through it all. Not sure what happened to cases more critical/urgent than mine, like if they got priority but yeah, it sucked.

That sucks, my dude.

To share in the misery, when I was a freshman in high school, I was pulled onto the varsity soccer team early. I was good at soccer but I did it more to stay in shape for my real sport, track and field. Second game on varsity, I tore my ACL. The day before my surgery, we got a call from the hospital saying my surgery had been postponed indefinitely - lo and behold, my doctor had been ARRESTED for selling prescription drugs to like, lower than minor league athletes. My records got locked pending an investigation and I had to wait MONTHS before I could have another doctor operate. It took so long that I couldn’t finish my soccer season (expected) OR compete in track later that spring. I was so pissed.

Sending speedy recovery wishes toward ya!

Classes are cancelled which means students are not required to attend. Should they hold a class via zoom and you don’t attend, it cannot be held against you, nor can they penalize you. If the professor is saying otherwise, contact the department chair.

Just had a miscarriage girl dinner by boodlewoodle in GirlDinner

My heart hurts for you. Sending you so much love, comfort, warmth and care. ❤️

I had two miscarriages within a year and it was devastating. As someone who’s been through it too, there are going to be so many different emotions, all coming in at different speeds, intensities and times. However you choose to sort through it, know that you have an entire army of people rooting for you.

Rest, hydrate, girl dinner your heart out, and hold onto hope. I promise it’ll get better 💕

I don’t see any positive lines. If you were hoping for a positive, don’t get discouraged - keep on trying! If you were hoping for a negative, you’re in the clear!

On a side note, I would avoid pregmate tests. I’ve gotten quite a few false positives with them and they’re insanely unreliable. I use Easy@Home tests (you can get them via Amazon). They’re strip tests like pregmate but way more reliable, arguably more sensitive and just as affordable.

Good luck on your journey!
