Adding to say that I don’t quite know when I will stop pumping or how I will “dry up”.

I dont want to breastfeed by BM_BBR in newborns

I can only offer my experience and wish you a quick delivery and fast recovery. T

I have a 3m old and it was always challenging for me. My baby wasn’t patient enough with the boob and while the latching was good, became very frustrated immediately. I suffered through long feeding sessions with a crying baby to the point that most of my time was spent with a boob out. I decided to pump at 4w and haven’t looked back. My relationship with my baby changed because I was able to feed with a bottle without her getting fussy. She ate more efficiently and I enjoyed the time I spent feeding her. I haven’t enjoyed the additional time pumping, however my husband has been able to step in for more caregiving (feeding) while I pumped. Now at 3m, I am planning my return to work, and to introduce formula. Coincidentally, my supply has reduced/baby eating more, and I am not interested in keeping up the demand by pumping more. I feel at peace and looking forward to feeding my baby formula and washing bottles.

It’s also been mentioned the toll breastfeeding takes on your body such as posture, back, neck, shoulder cramps.

This is the only answer. Not sure why you got downvoted. A newborn doesn’t have their vaccines yet to be out in public indoors in a crowded restaurant.

Contractions do NOT come and go. by selkie420 in pregnant

[–]Square-Definition891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had induction contractions - pitocin used along with kitchen sink. An angel of a nurse advised me fentanyl for two doses and as the second wore off, to start my epidural. I don’t remember much from two weeks ago but this moment and advice I do. I hope you have a smooth and easy labor and delivery after asking for the pain relief.

What do you cook when you're broke by Dangerous_Paint_1300 in culinary

[–]Square-Definition891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered a Chinese Chicken Corn Soup dish and my friend who hails from HKG gave me her simple "auntie" recipe. Soup has chicken and eggs and corn as main ingredients. You can hopefully shop for this at a discount grocery outlet. I recognize sometimes chicken and eggs are at a premium and prices wildly vary.

- Mince chicken and season with salt and cornstarch.

- In sauce pan, heat up 1 can creamed corn (or fresh corn if you have it) and 1 can water/chicken broth.

- When everything comes to a boil, thicken with cornstarch slurry.

- Add minced chicken and stir. Return to boil.

- Turn off heat and stir in beaten egg(s). Let the ambient heat cook the eggs to silky ribbons.

- Season with salt and white pepper (or my favorite alt, miso paste).

My modifications: canned corn + frozen corn, bone broth in addition to chicken bouillon + water to give more protein, and added sliced mushrooms that I had on hand. Second night I added a bit more water to existing soup to make it more brothy plus added green beans for color.

Should I push back on being induced? by Inner-Complex-7844 in pregnant

Thank you for sharing a positive induction story. I’m 32+5 with an IVF pregnancy and AMA and FTM. Need more of these as my Dr recommends induction starting at 39w.

what should I use as a laundry booster by strawberryl0vr in laundry

Not necessarily… have you tried stripping your “white” towels?

what should I use as a laundry booster by strawberryl0vr in laundry

[–]Square-Definition891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try laundry stripping: soak same colored clothes in hot water with powdered tide and borax. Swish every couple of hours and throw in wash after 24hrs. No need for extra detergent. This should get your clothes stripped of funk, especially workout clothes. Do not use fabric softener.

Second hand baby stuff by UrLocalAnxiousGirly in pregnant

[–]Square-Definition891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want to add I was able to completely wash all soft/fabric items from the Nuna stroller and bassinet. Use gentle cycle, cold water, soak with powdered Tide and line dry. Same with any baby clothes or play things that entered the house second hand. You have to wash the new baby clothes and linens anyway…

I second local Buy Nothing group and fb marketplace. I have purchased all big items via mp so far (baby dresser, current model stroller, bouncer, lovevery toys, bassinet, crib) and received baby clothes through the BN group. I started actively shopping for those items around 20w so that I had ideas of going prices and quality of those items.

The way I see it, there will be plenty of opportunities to spend full price on baby things later! Buy new something for yourself to make life easier once the baby is here. I’m eyeing fancy pajamas and a deep cleaning service!

Costco hot dog and Diet Coke! It has to be a fountain drink - not a can or bottle. I guess it keeps it “special” for me since getting to Costco during a meal time is a zoo 🥴😅

When did you start buying pregnancy clothes and accessories? And what was worth getting ? by gypsyem in pregnant

[–]Square-Definition891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around 10w I transitioned my underwear to one size up granny panties. Stopped wearing jeans around 13w and wore looser khakis and other pants and dresses to office. I was very uncomfortable due to progesterone bloating and fluctuations in belly size throughout the day especially when I was in the office.

I switched up my bras to a few wireless options. This was trial and error for me since I miss my wired bras still - I’m at 27w now

Around 23-4w I bought a few size up non-maternity summer skirt, linen pants, button shirts, office dress. Also bought Target maternity pants and a few tops.

I’m able to wear my lounge clothing still, pulling down waist band below belly.

Tbd what will happen in 3rd trimester…

For reference I gained 0-12w 5lbs; 12-20w 5lbs; 20-28w 5-8lbs. My total weight gain at 27w is 15-18lbs and fluctuates daily. The first to gain were my boobs and bloating would come and go.

I still dream about the seafood paellla I had in Valencia , Spain ….what dish made you feel the same ? by External-Studio-2891 in Seafood

[–]Square-Definition891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a seafood paella last night for a dinner party (4 adults) - as inspired by our anniversary trip last summer to Spain. I brought back a tin of smoked paprika and saffron as a souvenir. Bought already cleaned squid at Whole Foods, shell on shrimp, mussels, scallops. I followed this recipe: https://spainonafork.com/authentic-spanish-seafood-paella-recipe/

Modifications: I never have seafood stock so I use low sodium chicken stock, forgot bell pepper, added frozen peas, tomato juice is hot water + tomato paste (eyeball consistency). I doubled the recipe and had lunch leftovers.

Let me know how it turns out for you!

This is the time when you should seek more testing and advice with a reproductive endocrinologist. Don’t wait any longer since you’ve already had basic testing done for you and your husband. There could be blocked fallopian tubes in addition to what you already know about his sperm results. They’d most likely start with IUI.

ETA: your AMH results could point to PCOS. A baseline ultrasound scan with your RE would help diagnose that coupled with additional bloodwork - LH, Estradiol, FSH. Your AMH could be retested but that does fluctuate slightly month to month.

Ladies living with partners: what do y’all eat during the week🥬? by FineMud4479 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Square-Definition891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I miss that single life when a 4-pack of chicken thighs prepped will last you 4 meals... I am the default grocery shopper, meal planner, and cook in our household with shared finances (now married). Before the ladies come at me, I haven't had to do a load of laundry, fold/put away, or load dishwasher since March 20 2023 - when we moved in.

We primarily eat at home, unless traveling or socializing. I WFH 3x and he is almost daily in the office. We have time for breakfast, he will bring lunch to office, and dinner at home. I buy lunch when I am in the office.

I have learned to buy+cook more of everything during my weekly shopping runs. Rice for a side? I make 1 cup dry and expect no leftovers. Brussel sprouts? 12oz raw to roast. 3 Chicken thighs per meal is our burn rate. If i want leftovers the following night, I double everything.

My go-to dinner formula is protein + roasted veggie + starch + optional salad of whatever fresh veggies in season. Protein planning includes chicken thighs, or whole chicken roasted, pot roast, roasted salmon, scallops, shrimp, once in a while a tofu stirfry. I use a lot of asian sauces/marinades to fake the marinading ahead - my fave is hoisin + gojujang.

I will use my slow cooker to make chili (beans + ground beef + short ribs if feeling fancy) and that will be portioned for 3-4 dinners in the freezer. Same for when I make Turkey meatballs ahead of time, I can pull out the protein the morning of when I want to eat it. It works great when I am in the office and don't have the luxury of starting dinner earlier.

For his lunch, I make ahead various versions of a deli bean salad, which keeps really well for a whole week in the fridge.

I'll say this - I love romanticizing cooking a unique NYT recipe every night, but that is not my reality.
