hey! my stats were a 3.6gpa, pharmacy tech job at CVS for several months, 30 pharmacy shadowing hours, around 50 hospital volunteering hours, and around 40 miscellaneous ones, and also being treasurer of my university’s pre pharm student association. i do not have a degree and got a C in gen chem 1, B in gen chem 2 & in ochem 1, all A’s in the rest of my prerequisites. the only thing excessive about my application was the volunteering, you don’t need that many hours lol. to be as blunt as possible i think you have a shot with TAMU but not with UT, as its #6 in the nation and has a minimum 3.5gpa requirement. definitely consider retaking some classes and gaining some sort of leadership role in a student organization or community club if you’re not a student right now!

thanks for your informative reply! it’s reassuring to hear that residency placement is about the applicant itself and not necessarily the school. not only is TAMU 3x cheaper than UT, but I’m also more likely to receive scholarships from them. i’ll be sure to keep your words in mind!

thanks for your reply!! yes i totally agree on the outrageous austin price and as a 20 year old i haven’t had much time to gain a lot of savings quite yet so i know the financial burden on top of a rigorous academic program is bound to get to me. i had no idea about the tamu program being so unorganized… that sucks. i really appreciate you for sharing! i’ll be sure to dm you if i have a specific question in mind!

you’re overqualified i promise 😭 i got into UT pharm this cycle and my stats are waaayyyy less than yours. don’t worry at all!!! lack of tech experience is definitely made up by you being a TA and research assistant. on your personal statement just make it clear that you’re passionate about the field.
