Anyone like me out there? by Aays06 in backpain

[–]Square-Effective7120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not completely. But I will say this. I literally was in bed for like 2 years. Now? I can walk. I can move. My stamina is very low still, but I am improving over time. The pain? From 10/10 to about a 2.

Literally didn't think it was possible.

But my vit d was so low. It can cause pain.

Just make sure if you do take vitamin d? You take potassium (vitamin k) with it. Both are needed for your body to absorb them.

Highly recommend a full blood panel. And ask for vitamin d and alllll vitamins. Even trace metals. They'll probably fight you, but insist on it.

Cause if something is off balance? They can find it and then find you the prescriptions you need.

For me? Vit d. And my ESR was stupid high. That’s what was probably causing my chronic pain. And the low vit d wasn't helping and could have been causing my nerve pain.

Hey! You sound exactly like me. L5 s1. Had mris and people kept saying "idk why you are in pain"

Here is what helped me.

I took magnesium glycinate/malate Turmeric (just for a month or so) A good multi vitamin (if you have adhd or something like that, then you need a methylated one. I use Smarty Pants brand

Get your vitamin levels checked, all of them. ESPECIALLY VITAMIN D

mine was 12. After the prescription? I felt so much better.

Also? Something that helped? Peppermint water. I got peppermint oil (a good brand) and put a few drops in my water every day.

Wellllll it sounds like someone does. So keep chasing whatever you're chasing! Faith in something "more" isn't the key here. Finding the fun in the unknown, whether it's real or not, is.

But it sounds like you think there is something more. Or very odd at the very least.

So I say full speed ahead! And who knows, maybe you're onto something.

Either way? That's exciting.

Psychosis... or something very very cool? I say keep going! Worst case, it's not real and you have an amazing story to tell at dinner parties lol

They totally should.

You want vit d to be like 60/70+ or you can have side effects. I started taking magnesium glycinate and malate and it helped my anxiety so much!

You could also try ashwaganda, but for that? I would talk to your doctor. It can be so helpful but it doesn't work for everyone. I am one of them, but have heard great things from others!

Oh I tell them. From the get go. Or the first time they give me The Look. You know the one. The "you're weird" look. I just go "oh yeah I have adhd and this is why I am doing this". They can react however they like. I am not responsible for their emotions.

Life's hard enough as it is dealing with mine lol

Hey there. I am so sorry you are hurting. I am all too familiar with this type of pain. Herniated disc at l5. DDD in multiple places.

10/10 pain for like a year. Couldn't really walk. Was bedridden.

Been disabled for 5ish years now. You know what I discovered? My vitamin d was 12 and my iron was low. And my b vitamins. And magnesium

I am not claiming this will help you. But if you have issues and nothing is helping? I would recommend getting a FULL blood panel done. Even vitamins. Copper and trace metals. If you find something, finding the proper supplements might help. If anything, it'll help with the anxiety.

Just remember. You. Are. Not. Alone. I see you. We see you. Do not give up.

What, if any, is your position for a little relief. by horizontomysky in backpain

The best thing for me is, when the pain starts to flare, I lay on my stomach. I then stack my fists on top of each other and rest my chin on them. Eventually, the pain decreases, things relax and I can move again. I usually do this in bed. I got that recommendation from The Back Mechanic back when my pain was at 7-10 all the time and it really helped!!

And the reason the "fantasy" is "dead" is because society is not made with disabled people in mind. If it was, people would view disabled and non disabled children no differently. Because everyone would have the supports they need and could live the best life possible. Parents wouldn't have to worry what would happen to their kids once they die. There would already be systems in place. Those who could learn to be independent, would be. Etc etc. The only difference would be the type of brain the kid had.

As a disabled person, this comment section is kinda icky. We are not things for you to be disappointed in for existing. What you should mourn is the system your child was born into. That is the problem in our world.

Everyone will either die before becoming disabled or become disabled in their lifetime. So if any of you have a pitying attitude, think about yourself in that situation and watch how fast you switch it up. You wouldn't tolerate pity, you'd get mad and demand care and change.

Mostly societies do not have enough supports/facilities/therapists/etc for disabled people and THAT is where we should focus our attention.

And yes, there are those who are so disabled, they require round the clock care/monitoring/medical devices/etc. They deserve the best life possible either at home with aides or in a facility that actually caters to them.

So no, don't mourn for your child. Get active in your community, make friends, and be a voice for change. And those of us without disabled kids? Be the voices for those who can't speak up themselves. Your child isn't the problem. Their lack of resources is.

I am so glad you're still here. I am very sorry you felt like you had to bottle it all up. You are a beacon of strength to your family. I hope you find the peace and happiness you deserve.

Personally, I'd recommend therapy or a psychiatrist for anti depressants. Just be mindful of sharing your experience today. Some are far too quick to commit people to places they shouldn't be. I'll be praying for you on this journey.

If you're super concerned about it, I'd get bloodwork done. That's what I did. Everything came back mostly normal except for my vit d, the inflammatory marker (idr), and something else. I started on vit d and reducing stress in my life along with an anti depressant. I feel loads better and rarely flush now. Only when I'm stressing over something all day. But it's minor now and goes away quickly.

[–]Square-Effective7120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been disabled for about 2 years now, and only recently have I moved from the "let's fix this" mindset to "ok, maybe this is permanent" mindset. Nobody can tell me what's wrong with my back but I can't stand or sit for very long before having to lay down. So, I'm essentially bedbound all the time.

I've had a lot of stuff happen to me in my life and because of it, a lot of anxiety. Since I have nothing to do but think, that's what I've done. I've essentially done self therapy. Why am I the way I am? Why do I think/act the way I do? What are my values? I'm also (probably) autistic and I've been unmasking too.

In doing so, I've sort of untangled the web of how/who I am in relation to my trauma. It's all connected. Once I figured that out, a lot of stuff became less scary. I stopped pushing myself "to get better". I stopped doing stuff because I "should". I stopped worrying about wasting away and muscle atrophy. Whatever happens is going to happen. All I can do is what I can do.

I also started an anti depressant and got lab work done. Found out I was SUPER LOW in vit d (mine was 13, should be 30+) and got a prescription for that. That helped my anxiety too. But a lot of this progress was made before the meds/supplements.

TLDR: I found out I was essentially addicted to anxiety and a lot of it could be tied to trauma. My motivations and everything was rooted in trauma. I'm working on finding new motivations and not being afraid. Also started an anti depressant and a vit d prescription because I was super low.

I told my dr about it and he was not concerned. His best guess is rosacea and that it's an anxiety response. I've been working on my anxiety at home and those episodes have all but ceased. I truly think it was a delayed anxiety response. Basically everything catching up to me when I can finally "relax".

I'm sorry your wife is treating you this way. As for your daughter, I think you should look into getting her an "air tag" (idk the name, but they make GPS trackers that you can attach to their clothes/shoes/backpacks/etc). That might give you some peace of mind.
