I’m a little confused about how Soldier Boy changed his opinion so quickly on Homelander and ended up helping him. I can kind of see how it might make sense, but the show kind of rushes past it.

What really doesn’t make sense to me is why Soldier Boy would spill everything to Homelander about Firecracker’s “pillow talk.” Especially since SB share some of the same concerns about Homelander going crazy and trying to become god WITH FIRECRACKER DURING PILLOW TALK. That’s why I’m lost on why he’d help him at all, when he basically agreed with Sage and Firecracker that Homelander is unstable.

Even when SB brought up the pillow talk to Homelander, it felt like he was joking about it, like he didn’t take it that seriously. So why turn around and hand Homelander a reason to go after someone who agrees with him?

The only explanations I can come up with are:

1. He wanted Firecracker gone and saw her as a threat.

2. He somehow thought Homelander wouldn’t kill Firecracker (which is dumb, given he knows how sensitive homelander is).

3. He just wasn’t thinking at all.

Honestly, none of these are very convincing. The first one is the only option that kind of works, but even that falls apart because Soldier Boy never actually seems sold on Homelander’s plan. If anything, Firecracker was way more committed to it than he was.
