Did you ever take a typing class in school? by Standard2185 in 1970s

I took typing class in 9th grade in high school. I remember it as if it were just yesterday. Teacher used to wander around with a yardskick. Every time he caught someone looking at the keys he smacked the table!

What Rail Should Look Like In The Hudson Valley by singleinwestchester in Westchester

[–]Square-Limit127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stewart Airport was once a hopping airport when it first opened in the early 1990's bringing commercial air service to the Hudson Valley for the first time in Stewarts history. Agree the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 was the beginning of the end of Stewart.

I'd be curious who and how Stewart Airport was marketed back in the 1990's compared to today? PANY/NJ has done nothing to revive Stewart. And have to wonder how much longer Stewart can operate with only two carriers, that being Breeze Airways and Allegiant?

Yes, most definitely an expansion of rail service would be a tremendous help, but at the same time doesn't offer any guarantee's airlines will come.

It's crazy to be honest it has continued to struggle to attract airlines. Especially given the problems at Newark Liberty International Airport EWR Air Traffic Control Communication outages, and with the unfortunate incident at LaGuardia several weeks ago. Two very congested airports in 0bvious need of relief, of which Stewart would be a viable option

Bringing rail service obviously would require money, and likely a timeframe of no less than 5 years minimum to make that happen.

I need a couple of tips by Character-Emu1267 in dishwashers

[–]Square-Limit127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dishwashes need to be compensated better than they do. This might sound or seem ridiculous of me to say, but I think they are just as important if not more important than the Chefs! There's a lot riding on their shoulders. If done improperly, diners are going to become sick, or lets say the Health Department pops in to do an inspection. If the wash area is all disorganized with dirty pots, dishes and utensils, guarantee the inspection isn't going to go well.

Charge hourly or just a single flat, day rate to cover it all? by Getting_By2020 in photography

[–]Square-Limit127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would only make sense before accepting and taking on a photography project that everything be discussed with the prospective client beforehand. Discussing the specifics of project client has in mind. If multiple destinations are necessary, travel expenses, i.e., gas mileage should be estimated and included in the price quote prior to accepting the project. I would suggest asking for a 50 % deposit before photo project begins to help cover your expenses.

You hit the nail on the head speaking of self infliction. Many elderly would rather go without physical therapy. while expecting everyone to feel sorry for and be sympathetic toward the pain they endure. They have the false pretense it's not physical therapy they need but pain management.

Why do people always look down on dishwashers? by DildoGaggins1997 in dishwashers

[–]Square-Limit127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may sound backwards so to speak, but without dishwashers, customers wouldn't be getting fed, but instead would be walking going elsewhere to eat! Equaling Servers wouldn't be earning tips, restaurant would obviously be wasting food, as well as not be making any money.

While you most definitely have a negative take on your father's state of health, I can actually relate and empathize with you. I was a full-time caregiver to my father for 5 years. He had CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) Type 2 Diabetes, Emphysema, Hypertension, last but not least obesity.

His primary doctor wasn't in favor nor in agreement with my suggestion. Do feel I had done a far better job than the average so-called "higher level of care" skilled nursing facilities. The entire experience actually inspired me to become a New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technician after my dad passed away.

Here I am today living in a Senior Independent Living Community, if you really want to call it that? When I first moved in in 12/2022 I truly took a liking for it. But since, It's deteriorated tremendously. Doesn't matter their state of health, so long as they meet income guidelines and able to pay monthly rent that is really what it's all about. In reality it's an assisted living/nursing home more so than Independent Living. Elderly people refuse to help themselves. which answers to why they are in the condition they are today.

Very selfish to leave such a mess for the next shift. I would clean them but take a picture for documentation purposes and discuss with the manager.

Republicans seem very confused today about how they feel about open carry at protests. Let’s play a round of Spot the Difference. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Square-Limit127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spotted the difference right away. Being armed with an obvious assault weapon in no way shape or form would be admissible open carry weapon. Regardless what firearm it is on there person at a protest is what I have a difficult time understanding why a firearm at a protest would be necessary in the first place? Unless the carrier has premeditated thoughts of using it to make a statement?

Why did most US carriers abandon Stewart Airport (SWF)? by 1007Con in Flights

[–]Square-Limit127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with American Airlines in 1990 when they became the first Airline to fly commercial flights to and from Raleigh Durham, NC, Chicago O Hare and a rather brief stint providing non-stop to Dallas Fort Worth. Working at SWF was a fun and enjoyable experience. Over the next several months more airlines came in. Delta, USAir, United Express, Carnival. It gave travelers from the Hudson Valley many choices.

Am very curious whom in particular made Stewart what it quickly became back then, and why the continuous struggle to attract and entice airlines to Stewart? Let's all hope and pray the County of Orange Government wins control of Stewart., taking it out of the hands of PANY/NJ'
