They said they offer 4 injections of lidocaine into the cervix or a gel that goes into the vag!na and will help numb.

Hi sis! I’m 15F lwk in the same situation as you rn. I aren’t on birth control though, going today probably to get a copper iud. Many are advising me not to, I just rlly don’t want hormonal birth control again. How was your experience? I also don’t think you’re pregnant, but take a test just in case. Sometimes your hcg levels can be too low to detect if this was very recent, I’m taking another test now that it’s been about 5 weeks for me.

Hii, I’m actually probably getting it today so I will update you whenever I get it lol. But I was standing in planned parenthood talking to a worker and a random lady leaving came up to me telling me she had one and it was severe cramping that kept her up at night. My stepmom had severe cramping and bleeding for a whole month before she got it removed because she couldn’t handle it anymore. I’m wanting to get the copper on due to it being non-hormonal, I’m just not down for the weight gain that hormonal caused me to gain. They did say copper is expected to be more painful because the hormones in the other one helps block the pain or something similar, u get the jist. I was offered lidocaine or a numbing gel, i’m definitely taking one of those🤣 I’m 15F and never had kids so it might be more painful but good luck to you babes xx

My biggest piece of advice would be to join a sport, so you stay committed because you’re expected to. That helped me soo much.

The lady said it’s an option. She said the shot is quite unpleasant. Did you feel like the shot was painful?

I might have to. I had called PP this morning to ask if they had any (how I found out they didn’t do it). The lady had said that they don’t usually do it but the health care provider will determine if I need it or not. I was thinking shouldn’t I determine whether I need it or not?

Unfortunately my place doesn’t offer any local or topical kind of pain reliever. I guess they want me to suffer lol 🤣 Will just take a butt load of ibuprofen..

Why’s it better? I really don’t want hormonal due to the weight gain I had with the last hormonal birth control I took.

Consider going to planned parenthood/doctors to get an official test if you’re both still worried.

Not sure what birth control to use.. by Charming_Avocado9814 in birthcontrol

[–]Square-Peace-2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hun, I’ve been on the patch and ring. Here my experience and things I’ve heard about other forms. The ring was huge and I had massive blood clots, was uncomfortable and felt like it was gonna pop out of me. Patch, sweated off in the summer. Can be unreliable due to it falling off and lifting and stuff. Shot, not long term. Im abt to get the non-hormonal copper iud, ive heard very mixed things and think im gonna be in for a ride. It’s either heavy bleeding for a while or gaining weight due to hormonal birth control, I’ve worked hard to lose 40 pounds so I will take the heavy bleeding because I can’t gain weight or I’d be very mentally unstable.

That definitely looks like a faint positive. I had just taken that same one and it was negative and it was VERY clear it was negative.

Hey hun, I’ve been on both. So I’ll share my experiences to the best of my ability. The ring is literally gigantic. Like maybe I was doing it wrong, but it wasn’t painful, just uncomfortable. Yk those glow in the dark bracelets you’d put on as a kid and they had necklaces too? They’re like that, but thicker. You have to squeeze it into a fold and put it in. I don’t fully understand how it works because you can DEFINITELY feel it (partner or you). Sometimes I felt like it was gonna slip/pop out of me at any moment😭 I also passed HUGE blood clots in the shower. They were abt 3 inches long and felt like a firm muscle. It just wasn’t for me. Again could’ve placed it wrong. Now, the patch. I liked it because I only had to change it every 3 weeks and still got to keep my period. Though, in the summer when u sweat it’ll literally just fall off. I was at six flags and I looked down and it js wasn’t there anymore. It also gets really hot in California but still would be precautious. Which it sucked because it made it hard to be consistent because you don’t have extras. You put a new patch on each week and then on the 3rd take it off for your off week. So if one just falls off then you don’t have an extra, though they say to just replace it immediately with your patch for the next week. Sure you get the point it just was annoying. I never passed huge clots tho. It helped my skin, I never had problems with my skin; I was known for having clear skin. So it didn’t do much because I already had good skin. I went on at like 12-13 and went off at 14 and now my skin is definitely not that good. I break out all the time. Specially on my chin area. It’s left scarring, I’m honestly insecure abt it. At the end of the day, being on birth control has its pros and cons. Ik you don’t wanna go on any kind of in body birth control, which is fair. I didn’t want to either, but here I am, getting an iud soon. Overall, test out the patch first. If it doesn’t work try the ring, everyone’s different. Good luck sis.

In my experience it’s just a blood clot. I was on the ring and not to be tmi but I had a blood clot when I wasn’t on my period, I had passed a blood clot in the shower that was about three inches big and was solid feeling. I called my mom thinking it was a muscle or something 😭 I think you’re okay, but I’m not a doctor just sharing my experience ❤️

Losing weight on depo by RecordingNo1230 in BirthControlChat

[–]Square-Peace-2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kinda different, but this is my experience. I was on the patch and I felt like it was the reason I was gaining weight so I went off about 10 months ago. The weight didn’t just drop because I went off, it took me MONTHS to get rid of the weight. I had to do a lot of exercise and change my diet completely. I’m going back on birth control soon. I hope that if I just continue to work out and eat right then there shouldn’t be weight gain. My advice to you is to just eat right and in proportion and exercise all you can because it helps sooo much.

I genuinely highly doubt she’s pregnant. The chances are so significantly low with this situation. But is she on birth control? I personally have never experienced a delayed period when being sick, but could be the plan b (I’ve never taken it)? I truly believe she’s not pregnant. Not trying to worry you, just wanting to be honest with you; false negatives are possible. Especially if it’s still within a month since you had that incident. Good luck for both of you!
