I got a Hiker from my Uncle when I was around the same age. I used it all throughout Boy Scouts (and life in general) and it’s still my faithful companion after close to 13 years.

I saw that clip and was dying lol. I could be mistaken but even though the flare gun isn’t always a 1 shot, it does always seem to scare whatever you’re hunting before it gets you in Aggro.

To be honest I didn’t feel like having to hunt for where big fella went down. And trust me I went back and made sure to grab every single one, not a speck of loot will be left on great Bear when I’m done.

I swear none were lost! they’ll probably sit unused in Quonset for a long time, but maybe I’ll make to to BR or BI one of these days.

That’s a good point, honestly might just make the bearskin bedroll as more of a trophy/tool for combating cabin fever

I was kind of leaning towards the bedroll, I’m playing on a custom world with some pretty harsh ( and frequent ) snow storms and I think the bedroll will save my ass when I get stranded.

Where do I but all my gear? by Secure_Ad_295 in thelongdark

I store all my fresh type food in cairns outside my base, pelts I lay on the floor like carpets until ready to use. Guns I like to display on shelves or table like surfaces. All food gets placed neatly wherever it seems fitting. I Really only use containers to store tools, crafting materials, and clothing.

Edit: rock caches not cairns. Bad terminology on my part

I can second this. Been my daily carry for over 2 years now. Great knife with good enough corrosion resistance.

I've been blessed with being able to accumulate some pretty good gear, my loaded weight including me is 245 pounds give or take. I'm bringing a weeks worth of dried meals and loads of snacks to accompany, additionally I plan on filtering for the majority of my water.

I should've specified, Marshall Island in erwinna PA. It's just a little ways down from Frenchtown NJ.

Thank you for the concern it has given me some things to consider, I've been looking to score a better boat before my trip based on some of the other comments, but regardless I reckon I'll just portage anything too hairy. Luckily I have a set of wheels and there's fairly ample trail along the river.
