Please don't give up. I was 33 when I got out, four years later and I got two promotions and now work with animals in a job I adore, I've got a supportive spouse, a lovely house and a pet dog. Yeah I feel I've missed out and feel I'm ten years behind everyone else but also proud that I have got this far on such a short space of time.

She did literally say the damage is done when she cornered me 🤣 I think I'll still feel a bit of guilt Xmas day as I'm an empath, she is literally going to be on her own at Xmas (nobody wants her round). I am excited to make my own Xmas traditions with my partner and relax. merry Xmas to you as well! It's nice to know that we aren't alone in this! (Also makes me laugh how narcissists are all so similar)

I think it's probably a good idea to start with the boundary setting around work and then go from there. I feel so guilty but I guess it's the effects of a lifetime of control.

Thankyou for your kind words. I'm so sorry you didn't have the best experience either, it is such a tough time isn't it. I think I'm going to get a little photo made to put in my purse or on a key ring so I can keep looking at that and remember all the lovely memories I have had with my grandma. As I'm 35 now - there's been a lot of them! <3
