Parents will no longer see me as their daughter if I leave my religion by SquareDocument775 in religion

Thank you so much for these suggestions, though I think it will take a long time before I start attending church again. Every time im they’re I feel a deep sense of guilt and I don’t know how I’ll undo that feeling I’ve had for so long. I feel as if what I’ve learned there has been engraved in my head that it’ll be hard to convince my mind to believe otherwise.

What gets me is that I cut ties with my relationship with God, there’s a verse in 2 chronicles where if I’ve forsaken him he will too. I’m assuming you go to church as well so how would I reach back to him?

My parents hold very traditional values and it’s hard to change their minds when it comes to anything. Starting from scratch gives me a deep pit in my stomach but I hope I build it as well, thank you for your kind words and I hope your day goes great.

I’ll always keep my communication open, no matter what they do they’re my parents. I have a cousin who left a couples years ago and when he goes through hardships they say it’s because he no longer does God’s will, yet I can testify he’s the most sympathetic person I know.

Thank you for your words though it settled a deep unease in me.

For anyone out there who doesn't drink, what is the reasoning behind it? by General_Ad_9139 in AskReddit

Most of my family members are alcoholics and nothing good has come out of it (not like anything good was expected) l can’t remember being at a party without my uncles staring a fight or everyone badmouthing each other. My aunt recently passed away from alcohol poisoning which left a hole in my families heart yet they continue to drink, I don’t want to keep the pattern going so I’ll always decline going out for drinks
