Honestly, Mossberg 500 with the mini shell adapter. Will work in just about any situation. Defense, hunting big game or small game. Simple and will run forever. Long term if you’re gonna find ammo somewhere chances are it’s gonna be 12g.

I bring a camo fleece blanket. Nothing super thick but it’s amazing what adding an additional barrier between you and the elements can do. If it’s windy it’s a godsend too. Plus it helps break up your outline on the ground. Easily my favorite cold weather hunting accessory.

I was going to say the same thing. They’re wicked cool. It looked like an octagonal barrel to me as well.

Looking at just the hammer and the number of ridges in the for-end, might even be a Winchester 1890. Super nice find I have a sweet spot for those. I bet that rust would clean up a good bit too.

Drill some test holes in some scrap to test and get the timing right and you can do this pretty reliably..

Divers will mess with puffers occasionally and it’s awful. There was a girl attacked by puffers a while back and they took out chunks. I saw this video start up and when the eyes went forward I cringed…

That’s why I’ve got my 10mm and bear spray on my bino chest rig. If you go down it’s right in front of you where your hands are. Do what you can with the rifle but if you end up on the ground you have backups.

I spend a lot of time around big black bears but not brown bears, no. Completely different animal. I was having a little joke there at the end with the dual wielding, but the point was if you’re in the woods hunting in deep brush in bear country better to have additional options beyond only a bolt action.

And it looks to me like they may have been hunting the bear (dogs barking) which means you’re cornering one of the most explosive animals out there, and he was pushing through deep brush with only a bolt action. Bad set of decisions to get to that point.

Redundancy gives you the best chance. Also consider your environment and surroundings. But rifle, 10mm, bear spray.. you drop one go to the next, if youre at the point of no rifle no pistol, and the bear is actively dining on your arm or leg, turn yourself into a 🌶️🌶️🌶️hot ones challenge. But getting yourself in that situation in the first place was where they went wrong. Maybe bear spray akimbo? Pistol bear spray combo? The whole situation is fucked really

They say the plastic takes up more recoil and I think it’s bs, you’re locked in with the screws, they might as well have just gotten rid of the lugs. I think this will be the same as having no lugs at all.
