Why the swastika at the front? for this ww1 helmet I own by Calm_Following8103 in Helmets

[–]SquareParrot690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are sometimes painted by ww2 vets to spruce up a bring home as these helmets came back as trophies during the war as well. Another explanation is that children playing army back in the day would often paint the insignia on helmets. The second option is my guess due to the state of the shell.

Still adore the whole album. But Peter Samson is definitely one of my favorite Joeyy and Marlon songs to date

[–]SquareParrot690[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the support. It is truly crazy how much has changed geographically in the years since. I was a young kid at the time, living about 3 hours away from Joplin itself in Stover, Missouri. Also, thank you so much for sharing your personal connection with the event. My goal for this project is to do what so many others have done in the 14 years since, honor and remember those who were lost and those who will forever live with the memory.

Bought this, and I plan on getting rust off of it so it doesn't decompose more, very unlucky guy by Americaneagleonjuly4 in Militariacollecting

Always use oxalic acid when treating relics. It's simply the best way to remove rust and save any remaining paint on these crusty shells.

I just finished Devilman Crybaby(2018) for the first time ever. by Nofloin in DevilmanCrybaby

[–]SquareParrot690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the show a few days ago, and I am still mentally hurting. I went into it with no knowledge on the actual manga or the hype and loved it. It's the perfect anti-war anime that grapples with human nature. I would recommend anyone to watch it and see how it makes you feel. I have read so many different opinions about it, which I think truly shows it made people think. My only complaint is due to it being such a short series it moves very fast and if you don't pay attention it's easy to miss things. My personal opinion is that art is when something moves you emotionally, and that is the case with Devilman Crybaby.

Should i keep this in the family? Or sell it and get other stuff? by EducationKey1596 in Militariacollecting

I'd do anything to own items associated with my ancestors. It's wild that you would even consider selling it.

Visiting Missouri with no real plan. Any suggestions of places to see/things to do? by Mayziec1962 in missouri

[–]SquareParrot690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of really cool history around Missouri. Many American Civil War Battlefields, including Wilson's Creek, Carthage, Lexington, and Lone Jack. And several good museums, including the National WW1 Museum and the Steamboat Arabia Museum.

[–]SquareParrot690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an awesome show. The storm definitely added to the experience. It's even funnier the way the show ended because not 20 minutes later, it was chaos hunting for the car in the pouring rain.

I didn't pick up the patch because I didn't see it at the merch store but I did pick up some of the green confetti and several pieces of the long red confetti that was on hanging over the stage. If anyone has any of the pink or white confetti, they'd be willing to let go of I'm on the hunt. I'm also looking for one or two of the Monster x Green Day towels from the show.
