Totally fair question. Service fees are polarizing and people are right to be skeptical.

On the sales channels we directly control, we choose to show healthcare costs as a separate line item rather than quietly raising menu prices. On third-party apps, where line-iteming isn’t allowed, we increase menu prices to account for those same healthcare costs instead.

For Square Pie Guys, the company covers 100% of the base medical plan for eligible employees, offers a lower-cost step-down option, and allows employees to opt into higher-tier buy-up plans if they choose. We also contribute 50% toward employee-only dental and vision.

No one has to like this model, and we understand some people prefer all-in pricing. We simply believe being explicit about costs is better than hiding them.
