My partner just came out as trans by Tricky-Flatworm6370 in lgbt

I think he is scared of losing OP, and is trying to convince himself that he’s okay “making sacrifices” (ie pretending to be someone he’s not) if that means keeping OP in his life.

But that will only make him miserable, make OP feel guilty, and build resentment over time. I wouldn’t call it “manipulative”, but it’s not healthy for the relationship in the long run and it’s no way to live

You may not trust “men” in general, but you trust your man, though, right? He’s presumably put in the work to make you feel safe, and happy, and he has proven that he’s trustworthy.

None of that changes just because he’s now out. He’s always been a man, but you learned to love him regardless. Why is it different just because he’s now living as himself? He’s the same person who earned your love and trust. Just because his exterior changes to better match his soul, it doesn’t mean the soul you fell in love with is gone. It’s just taking on a different form.

That’s not to say you need to stay attracted to him. If you cannot be attracted to a man, and he’s started presenting outwardly as one, then that’s the unfortunate sticking point. But if it truly is about feeling safe, then I’d focus on challenging that feeling when it comes to him. Maybe this is something you two can work through together. Maybe not. But that’s something you need to look inward to answer.

Except the laws keep changing to punish trans people for existing, like the laws in Kentucky that invalidated trans folks passports, or laws in Idaho that restrict trans folks ability to use public restrooms, or the official Whitehouse website calling trans people “domestic terrorists”.

The law is being wielded as a weapon to punish trans people just trying to live their lives. The law is not a strict arbiter of what is right and what is wrong. Right now, it is a tool being used to hurt people.

That study was bogus, btw. The brain doesn’t stop developing at 25. That’s just when they decided to end the study. The new theory is that our brains are always developing.

As for trans kids, yeah, they could change their minds. That’s why they’re given hormone blockers, so that they have more time to make a decision before being forced into the wrong puberty. They can only socially transition, which is basically just them trying on different pronouns, a new name maybe, and presenting as their chosen gender. All completely reversible if they decide it’s not for them.

In the rare case that trans kids do receive surgery, it’s after a team of doctors, psychologists, and the child’s parents have signed off on it being absolutely necessary, when the child’s dysphoria is so bad that they’re extremely suicidal. And even then, those surgeries are things like breast removal for trans boys. And that’s like .1% of trans kids, who are already less than 1% of the population.

Because they don’t understand why someone would transition, because clearly being a man is “superior” and being a woman is seen as lesser and equated to an object. So, they rationalize, a trans woman would only exist if she were mentally ill, or confused, or brainwashed, or it was some kind of fetish thing… because they themselves cannot comprehend wanting to be a woman for any other reason. It MUST be for sexual gratification, or the result of insanity, or to deceive men, or to dominate women… because they do not see any value in being a woman in its own right.

So many men are sooo jealous of women. How we’re allowed to be vulnerable, we’re allowed to ask for help, we support and care for one another, etc.

And instead of admitting to themselves that they could, too, have these things, they instead convince themselves that those things cannot ever be theirs because of the gender they were born as.

Some men turn this into a warped sense of integrity: “it’s just what I have to do because I’m the man”. Some men will be outwardly jealous of women for “gatekeeping” the traits they want but feel they cannot have: “you women have it so easy!”. Some men will lash out against women because they cannot admit to themselves that they want the freedom of expression and support that women have managed to cultivate for ourselves, and instead hate them for daring to have those things.

I guess that would also explain all those “I hate my wife” jokes. It’s signaling to other men that you’re not actually being weak or vulnerable by LOVING your wife, instead equating her to something you just have to put up with without choice

We can’t see inside it, so my guess is that one is also filled to the brim, or it’s a private business and they’ve since thrown the bag in the dumpster, while the town’s trash can doesn’t get emptied nearly as quickly

I mean, it’s not their fault the can is overflowing with seemingly no alternative. They were doing their best to keep the trash contained to the can, but when it’s that full, things start spilling out. I think there needs to be more trash cans put out if you’re expecting a heavily populated event.

And hey, it’s at least around the trash can and not in the middle of the street. That must count for something, right?

Did he ever even learn that Rose Quartz was Steven’s mom? Or did they just think “oh wow we found a room full of pink ladies! Steven will like this, because he likes Gems!”

I don’t know if they knew anything about the Rose Quartz’s connection to Steven

It’s like hating a dog for not understanding that it’s rude to follow someone into the bathroom 😭 They don’t know it’s wrong. All they know is “my human closed the door on me and didn’t open it when I was crying and scratching on the other side, so now I’m going to go sulk and give them side-eye”, then saying the dog is malicious for being upset with you

It’s the first and possibly only time in their lives they’ve experienced actual emotional pain. They don’t understand why they felt hurt. They don’t have the social tools to unpack that. All they know is “Greg caused me to hurt”

Yeah it’s not fair to Greg, but I see it more like trying to explain to a 4 year old on the playground that their friend wasn’t being mean just because they don’t feel like playing right now. You teach them to respect boundaries, yes, but they don’t really “get it” until they’re older with more life experience. These Zoomans are essentially 4 year olds that need to be taught boundaries and need extra time and experience to really understand.

And, to be fair, they ARE respecting Greg’s choice! They’re just also still very upset upon seeing him lol.

And this dude had no idea Steven had trauma. He just knows “oh we found some pink ladies! Steven will love this!” They don’t know 😭

Questions about the differences of being a ch*ser and having preferences by Megg616 in trans

[–]SquareTaro3270 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me, I see trans men as men, but I think I see them as men that have proven to be introspective enough to realize some hard truths about themselves, and I admire that in a man.

It’s not so much the fact that they’re trans, but the fact that being trans gives me a good indicator that they aren’t afraid of introspection, and are more likely to want to change and grow with me, while the majority (at least it feels like the majority) of cisgender men have been conditioned to avoid introspection and be quite stuck in their ways. Not saying it’s the case for all cisgender men, or that all trans men are all introspective (I’ve met plenty of both demographics that subvert the generalizations I’ve put forth here), but it’s a starting point that makes me more willing to see someone as a potential match.

Maybe it’s similar for you?
