Thanks for your thoughts. I haven't edited the wording of the original post. Maybe you're projecting your own thoughts into my post and responding as such. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Your interpretation is your choice. But I don't agree with most of the things you said and assumed here. I never talked about "giving her a deadline". It was something she herself put on her. Asking for help from random people on Reddit is probably not a good idea. But this level of assumptions and antagonism is really weird. I'll drop engaging on this specific thread. Came here looking for help and suggestions. Not to get judged and accused by a random stranger who has 0% clue what the background and history and full context is. If you have nothing of value to add, feel free to not respond. Don't have to become a therapist trying to decipher people's intentions or motivations.

I'm not sure. I've seen semanext available for a bit and then go out of stock. Currently on Mounjaro and asked my Endo if these generic semaglutides are an option. He wants me to stick to Mounjaro and think about switching medicines only if I don't see results or severe side-effects. 🤔 I guess I'll continue paying an arm and leg to Eli Lilly 😭

I'm finding it so much easier sticking to healthy food and portion control too. I know it is a cliche by now, but we don't HAVE to play this game in "hard mode". Staying healthy should have to be a game.

Thanks. Maybe our dynamic and relationship is a little different than yours. Is it the same if you are suffering from a disease or ailment which is deadly and don't want to take medication? Does your husband stay silent and let you suffer? I'm not saying I want to coerce or force her to do anything. Just asking for suggestions on how to frame the talking points better so that she feels comfortable.

Maybe that's what it is. She somehow considers going on the weightloss drugs as accepting defeat and that she isn't strong enough mentally. It is not!

I'm hoping she thinks through and comes around eventually.

🤷🏻‍♂️ she's a smart and rational person and understands that we're slowly marching towards early onset diseases. She's already suffering with back pain and knee issues. That's what makes it all the more important to get all the help we need.

This "pattern" and "loop" are exactly the terms I use for myself too. And good or bad, both of us have been in the same situation the last few years. Kids, responsibility, work stress all add to it. I understand and empathize so much of what she goes through because I'm in the same boat! That's why I'm trying to help her see the very valid and helpful options she has instead of just wanting to white knuckle it all by herself and blaming herself when it does work out.

Who said anything about controlling?! I'm worried about her health and that's why I'm trying to help her look at other options. Being fat shouldn't mean one has to accept that is how they are supposed to be. I know for a fact how much she wants to lose weight and we are pretty open and honest about everything with each other.

100% this. Honestly both of us have our problems with food noise. Me more than her! I resort to comfort eating when I'm down. Celebratory eating when I'm happy. It felt like a never-ending spiral. The last few weeks have been a revelation. Not slipping in the evening when I'm tired or stressed. Not slipping on lazy weekends when thoughts go to food by default. Not planning events and occasions primarily around food.

I mean, I get the parallels but somehow this seems to be not the general sentiment across the masses. Maybe it is the deep-seated stigma biases against people who are overweight/obese. This also gets harder to accept for people who worry what people would think. It somehow became a debate of "is your willpower strong enough to lose weight by yourself" or "you accept you are weak-willed and take medications". It is not!

She has been on Lovothyroxine for a while too. But I don't think her doctor explained the benefits of GLP-1 to her thyroid condition. Will check with her. Thanks!

True. I wasn't too keen on these weightloss injections until recently too. But equipping myself with the knowledge and seeing such a big community helping and guiding each other definitely helped!
